2025 just started, but automakers like General Motors are already planning for the 2026 model year. One such plan involves the 2026 Chevy Equinox, which is getting a new paint option called Polar White. Of note, we’re talking specifically about the ICE-powered Equinox, not the Equinox EV.
Polar White (G4J) will replace Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (G1W), which has been available on the Equinox since 2016, in the crossover’s color palette. As with Iridescent Pearl on the 2025 Equinox, Polar White will be available on the Activ and RS trim levels. It won’t be available on the base LT trim. Summit White (GAZ) is the white paint option for the Equinox LT. The extra cost of Polar White is forthcoming, but the soon-to-be-discontinued Iridescent Pearl Tricoat paint is a $995 option for 2025.
2025 Chevy Equinox in Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (G1W) with Mosaic Black Metallic (GB8) Roof
For the 2025 model year, the Equinox RS is available with a Mosaic Black (GB8) contrast roof with several paint options, including Iridescent Pearl Tricoat. It’s safe to assume that when the 2026 Chevy Equinox becomes available to order, Pearl White paint will also be available with a Mosaic Black roof.
As we reported previously, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat was built out in the week of December 2nd, 2024 for the 2025 Chevy Equinox. That means if you want a premium white paint option on a new Chevy Equinox, you’ll have to wait until the 2026 Chevy Equinox with optional Polar White paint becomes available later this year.
The 2025 Chevy Equinox paint options list has 21 different exterior paint combinations. These include several contrasting roof options, with many body colors available to pair with either a black or white roof. Also, the Equinox dropped two previously available paint options with the 2025 redesign: Harvest Bronze Metallic (GXN) and Riptide Blue Metallic (GJV). The 2025 Chevy Equinox is motivated by the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, while the GM D2 platform provides the underpinnings. Vehicle assembly takes place at the GM San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico. Since it was just redesigned, we expect these details to be unchanged for the 2026 Chevy Equinox.

So they moved the shifter to the column, kudos on that, the proper place for it; but they move the drive mode selector there taking up space? It should be a toggle, or dial on the steering column, and cup holders should ALWAYS be side by side unless the vehicle is just too skinny.
Thankfully, I can buy a 2025 GMC Terrain Elevation in Summit White that is $995 cheaper with basically the same options as the Equinox RS.
