2025 GMC Sierra 1500 No Longer Available To Order In This Color

It is now no longer possible to order the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 with White Frost Tricoat (color code G1W) exterior paint, according to information that GM Authority has received on the subject.

With no further orders for the color coming in, the last 2025 GMC Sierra units painted with White Frost Tricoat will be built out on the week of February 24th, 2025.

Up until now, White Frost Tricoat was available as an extra-charge color on Big Red’s popular pickup model. Priced at $995, it was offered only on the SLT, Denali and Denali Ultimate trim levels of the 2025 GMC Sierra. It could not be optioned on the entry-level Pro, SLE, Elevation, AT4 or AT4X trims. With White Frost Tricoat now unavailable, eight exterior paint colors are still on offer for new 2025 Sierra orders.

At this point in time, it’s uncertain whether the White Frost color will return to the palette for the 2026 model year of the GMC Sierra 1500. However, it seems extremely unlikely that it will do so. GM Authority expects it to be replaced with the Glacier White Tricoat (color code G4J) paint color, which will be taking the place of White Frost on the 2026 GMC Terrain.

As a reminder, we’ve also discovered that the 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 is likely to be the final model year of the current fourth generation. The fifth generation should launch with the 2027 GMC Sierra, though this could theoretically change in the interim. You can scope out the details we’ve gleaned about the next-gen pickup here.

Four powerplants are cradled under the vehicle’s hood, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine developing 310 horsepower, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine cranking out 355 horsepower, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine providing 420 horsepower, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine developing 305 horsepower.

For now, the GMC Sierra 1500 rides on the GM T1 platform, though the next generation will use an updated version of the platform, the T1-2. The GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and the GM Silao plant in Mexico are the two sites producing the pickup truck.

  • Personally I’d prefer the Summit white be available. At least if you scratch it they can just paint that spot and not paint the whole panel and blend the one next to it to match.

  • They stopped the tricoat white because of the 2nd lawsuit. I have a Denali and so does my friend....both are peeling just after 3 years. Yes, both trucks are tricoat white. Went to get it fix and I am told wear and tear, but when I try to trade it in it becomes a defect.

  • White frost tricoat is a fabulous color, especially in the sun. GMC did a beautiful clean factory paint job on our 2020 Denali. It has been cleaned and we have taken care of the exterior. It is my daily driver, and drivenbeing the 6.2, it is a fun daily drive.
The truck is used as a truck, and I have not had any issues with the paint.... or the 6.2 motor......or the 10 speed transmission. It gets washed when dirty, waxed once, but I have no complaints on the factory paint. This vehicle was assembled at the Roanoke IN USA. Great vehicle, one of the best trucks I have owned. It is 5 years old and has 68k on the odometer. DFM and Auotstop are off and I average 20 mpg, but the 6.2 likes to run, and my heavy foot.
GMC builds the best truck available today. My last daily driver was a 1998 Z71 extended cab 3 door with an exotic beautiful Caribbean blue paint kind of blue green metallic, that still looks good today, and I drove it everyday for 24 years. I don't need both trucks, and it is hard to part with the old one. 200k miles and it also drive and could still be my daily driver, but the luxury of the Denali and the power of the 6.2 spoil me and in my opinion are the best, longest lasting trucks ever built.

  • Does it really matter what color the exterior is when you are using junk transmissions and have faulty lifters among all of the other issues GM has!!! Mary Barra needs to go NOW !!!!!
