2025 Chevy Suburban Gets New Cypress Gray Color: First Look

Headlined by new exterior styling with updated lighting signatures, 24-inch optional wheels on certain trims, a revised diesel engine and an overhauled cockpit with a large infotainment screen, the 2025 Chevy Suburban introduces the 12th-generation SUV’s mid-cycle refresh.

Among the changes introduced is the debut of two exterior paints, Cypress Gray and Lakeshore Blue Metallic, for the available palette of 2025 Chevy Suburban colors. Right now, we’re zooming in on the details of Cypress Gray.

Tagged with color code GBD and touch-up paint code WA-229K, Cypress Gray joins the eight-color lineup that 2025 Chevy Suburban buyers can pick from, which is comprised of these tints:

  • Black (GBA)
  • Dark Ash Metallic (G6M)
  • Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (G1W)
  • Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
  • Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD)
  • Summit White (GAZ)
  • Cypress Gray (GBD – new for 2025)
  • Lakeshore Blue Metallic (GXP – new for 2025)

A non-metallic, non-tintcoat paint color, Cypress Gray is available for an additional price of $395 on the off-road focused Z71 trim and the RST trim level. It can be ordered in conjunction with both interior colorways on the Z71 trim – including Jet Black and Gideon / Very Dark Atmosphere – and the single colorway of the RST, Jet Black / Victory Red.

The three colors that were retired from the 2025 Chevy Suburban, and indirectly replaced by the two new shades, are Empire Beige Metallic (GJW), Midnight Blue Metallic (GLU) and Silver Sage Metallic (G6N).

The 2025 Suburban carries forward two gasoline engine options from before the refresh, namely the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 cranking out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 developing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque – though engine availability has been tweaked. Replacing the previous 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine is the new 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax developing 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque – 10 percent more horses and 7.6 percent additional torque over the LM2. Meanwhile, Suburbans fitted with  Magnetic Ride Control and/or Air Ride Control receive improved rear suspension tuning.

As GM Authority previously revealed, prices for the 2025 Suburban in two-wheel drive (2WD) configuration start at $63,495 for the base LS trim and reach $81,695 for the range-topping High Country. Starting MSRP for four-wheel drive (4WD) variants are $66,495 for the LS and rise to the High Country’s $84,695. Build can be tried out and priced using the official configurator.

  1. Please, please no more colors that have the slightest hint of gray and boredom in them. Stop. Just stop.

  2. We are the original owners of a 2005 Suburban always kept in a garage with only 51,000 miles. Painted in Silver, fully optioned with factory fender flares and trailer option. It makes the 2025 look like junk. The dealer says if we ever trade it in he will put on display in the front window of the dealership not to be resold.
