General Motors has issued Safety Recall number N242483530 for certain units of the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV, potentially failing to conform to minimum sound requirements for hybrids and EVs in the U.S. and Canada.
The problem: The affected Chevy Silverado EV units may have an incorrect software calibration and may not produce exterior sound at the required relative volume when the vehicle is traveling between 20 km/h (12.4 mph) and 30 km/h (18.6 mph).
The hazards: Chevy Silverado EV models that don’t meet the required sound threshold may present a safety hazard to pedestrians who may not hear the car in low-speed driving situations, such as parking lots.
The fix: GM service personnel at EV-certified dealers are instructed to update the software calibration in the vehicles’ body control module (BCM) to correct the condition. Some unsold vehicles may receive this update via wireless over-the-air (OTA) technology.
Affected components: The body control module in affected units needs to be recalibrated but not replaced.

Number of affected vehicles: This recall affects 46 units in the United States, all of which are WT models. 338 units are affected by the recall in Canada as well.
