Following the expansion of the compact pickup’s lineup in the country at the end of last year, General Motors has just officially launched the 2025 Chevy Montana RS in Argentina.
The automaker launched the 2025 Chevy Montana RS in the local market of Argentina as the bowtie brand’s first product novelty in the new calendar year in the South American country, where the company has begun promoting its updated Chevy pickup lineup. As such, the 2025 Montana RS further rounds out the compact pickup’s lineup in the Argentine market with a bolder appearance that targets a specific customer profile.
“There is a customer profile that is looking for a multipurpose vehicle with exclusive design elements and a more daring appearance,” said GM Argentina Commercial Director, Andrés Carfagna. “That is where the idea of creating the RS version for this truck came from and placing it in a top-of-the-line positioning, is something disruptive for Chevrolet,” he added.
Specifically, the 2025 Chevy Montana RS represents the fourth version of the model to be launched in Argentina, positioned in the upper-middle range, right between the LTZ and Premier trim levels. The sporty looking Rally Sport is distinguished from the rest of the lineup by its blacked-out trim finishes with black Chevy logos, a mesh-patterned grille, and an exclusive set of wheels that give it a bold appearance.
Mechanically, the 2025 Chevy Montana RS maintains the exact same powertrain configuration as pickup’s uplevel trims, which includes the turbocharged 1.2L I3 engine that develops 132 horsepower and 140 pound-feet of torque, coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. Available only with a front-wheel drivetrain, the 2025 Montana boasts the best mix of performance and fuel economy in its class.
The 2025 Chevy Montana RS is now available for sale at official Chevrolet dealerships in Argentina, completing the lineup of third-generation Montana variants in that country. Like the rest of the lineup, 2025 Montana RS units reach the Argentine market imported from the GM São Caetano do Sul plant in Brazil – the company’s only factory in the world that produces the model. This is the price of the RS version:
- 2025 Montana RS: 30,344,900 pesos (about $29,270 USD at the current exchange rate)

Why the heck is this still not in the US? Oh, that’s right. It’s not an EV.
Because it is too small, it is significantly smaller than a Maverick. It is about the same length of a CR-V and a few inches skinnier, so do the math on how small it is. I can only imagine how little legroom is back there and a little over a 100 hp won’t cut it for the US. They’d literally need to take an equinox and put a bed on it like Ford did with the Maverick to have anything with enough room to be useful here.
That’s a good thing. Some think the Maverick is too long. So what if rear legroom is small? Use it for kids only, or nobody, as most buyers would. If you carry a crew or large tools, get a Colorado or Silverado. Bet those 3-banger turbos would easily fit in it.
Ford is working on a truck smaller than the Mav.
Because GM execs think it will cut into the sales of their larger money-making trucks. They are wrong. It is a different customer base, and they should sell them in the USA.
Ford Ranger sales in 2024 were less than 50k units. Maverick sales were around 130k units. Seems pretty clear that Maverick sales have taken a huge chunk of Ranger sales. And the Maverick would be way less profitable. So how exactly are GM execs wrong?
Seems we have another internet CEO who’s clueless.
This would be awesome!
GM bring a truck like this to the market in the US with a 2.7 and you’ll have a Hit on your hands you know like the S 10 was when you offered that small truck.
Would like to see dimensions compared to a 2002 S10. I had an extended cab and a 4×4 and the size suited my needs fine. I could use another S10 sized truck but not interest in a Colorado at all. Still to big for my needs.p
I would happily take one with the big-block 1.3t triple threat engine and AWD.
If you really saw it this is so small that most would skip it. The bed is useless, the engine is an under powered 3 cylinder.
The Maverick is now rotting on lots now the initial sales are over. The Hyundai has not been flying off lots. This is a very limited market with low profits.
Is it available in a 2-door?
I’d even take a FWD one if I could get a 2-door with a more usable bed.
GM needs new leadership
This should be available here
Beachy, the 3 cylinder turbo is what is in it already and 130 hp. The back seat matters if it needs to carry kids which is what the crew cab is for, and based on the room visually, it is awfully small.
Can’t find anything about the bed length, I would say its right about 4′ and the Maverick is 4.5′, so a little short bed, but much smaller interior. This think small, CR-V length. The old extended cab S10 was the same length as the Maverick (about 200″) and this is 185″, it is subcompact, a class down from the Maverick. Plus it is FWD only, you heard the complaints about the Maverick only offering that on certain trims and this isn’t offered at all.
What they should do, is take the Equinox, give it a bed version, but try an oversized regular cab or extended cab version (one or the other) to go along with the crew cab version. No one has tried this yet, and the amount of people who could use a fuel efficient, smaller truck with a longer bed for work I think has some solid untapped potential. Pool guys, lawn car guys, parts guys, pest control, maybe even some trades that runs around doing check ups like HVAC. Anytime we have our tune up, a guy shows up in a big van or truck loaded with install materials, your telling me they couldn’t have a few guys who just do check ups in a much smaller and more efficient vehicle running around and leave the big trucks for those doing installs?
My brother has a pool business, a 4ft bed would be tough for poles and buckets, but a 6ft bed with a smaller cab would be great. All he does is local neighborhoods, the fuel savings from his Silverado would be immense, especially with a hybrid. I think offering the only one with a longer bed and smaller cab option could be great on the commercial front. Give it 1500 payload, 4k towing which would cover single axle lawn trailers, large buckets of chemicals, tools, etc just fine (I am sure helper springs would be available for those always loaded down). A 30k truck like that getting 30mpg combined versus a 40k full size getting 16mpg is a huge savings. Plus more comfortable and quieter, what business wouldn’t love that and cheaper repair and maintenance costs?
BTW, a 2.7 would be WAY OVERKILL for anything even remotely close to this small. Even the 2.5 would, a hybrid 1.5 would be the sweet spot.
