2024 GMC Hummer EV Omega Edition Units Aren’t Selling Very Quickly

The GMC Hummer EV commands attention wherever it goes, with the limited-run Omega Edition elevating the standard model’s already imposing presence. Thanks to a range of exclusive upgrades, including Neptune Blue Matte paint and unique alloy wheels, this special edition makes quite the statement, even in the boisterous world of bold electric trucks. However, despite its striking looks, the Omega Edition isn’t selling very quickly.

The windows on the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Omega Edition.

As GM Authority covered previously, General Motors produced approximately 1,658 units of the 2024 Hummer EV Pickup and SUV with the Omega Edition package. However, many of these units remain unsold on dealer lots.

The high price tag is likely a major factor. The Omega Edition package, tagged with RPO code WFP, adds $23,360 to the vehicle’s bottom line. Additionally, buyers must opt into the Extreme Off-Road Package, which costs $9,995, and for Pickup models, the 24-module battery pack, which tacks on yet another $9,995.

Inventory data from GMC’s search tool underscores the challenge. Of the 446 Hummer EV Pickups currently listed for sale, 219 are Omega Edition models – almost 49 percent of the total. Of the 1,346 Hummer EV SUVs currently available, 245 are Omega Editions, or about 18 percent of the inventory. Dealers are even offering significant discounts to move these units, with one U.S. dealer slashing $21,044 off the price of an Omega Edition Pickup.

In Canada, it’s a similar story. GMC is offering a CAD$15,000 rebate on unsold 2024 Hummer EV units, but some dealers are adding even more aggressive discounts. In fact, combined dealer and manufacturer incentives can reach up to CAD$30,000 on an Omega Edition model, showing just how hard GM and its dealers are pushing to clear inventory.

Granted, the Omega Edition offers an array of features to help justify its premium pricing. Highlights include:

  • Neptune Blue Matte exterior color (paint code GLG)
  • Infinity Roof with transparent Sky Panels (RPO code CC3)
  • Black Emblems (RPO code RIK)
  • Spare Tire Cover in Neptune Blue Matte (RPO code SAW)
  • Thatcham Wheel Locks (RPO code SFE)
  • 18-inch Gloss Black Beadlock Wheels with Carbon Flash Decorative Ring (RPO code SYW)
  • Spare 18-inch Gloss Black Beadlock Wheel with Carbon Flash Decorative Ring (RPO code SYX, SUV variant only)
  • Wheel Center Cap in Black with HUMMER EV Logo (RPO code 5ZF)
  • Premium Carpet Floor Inserts (RPO code VYW)
  • MultiPro Tailgate Audio System by Kicker (RPO code SAX, Pickup variant only)

Even so, finding buyers is proving difficult, at best.

As a reminder, the GMC Hummer EV rides on the GM BT1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

    1. I never got why this and the Cadillac Celestiq were ever green-lighted. It’s called arrogance that might be coming to an end soon. Hopefully.

      1. Agree 100 percent! Plus, who greenlighted retooling Orion to exclusively build 400,000 electric pickups a year. What made GM think there was demand for so many electric Silverado/Sierra units per year at $100,000. each.

The whole notion that pickup buyers are also EV buyers seems to have been misguided.

      2. Let’s see they sold 14,000 $100k vehicles. That’s $1.4 Billion in revenue. If this was a one off that’s not bad. But this vehicle shares components with the Silverado EV, Sierra EV, Brightdrop EV, Escalade IQ, etc. The Lyriq/Blazer/Prologue just have a single stack version of the Hummers battery pack. The Lyriq rear motor/drivetrain is the Hummer 2X front motor/drivetrain. Inverters, motors, controllers are all shared.

        1. Hey gmflew, what’s the other side of the story here? How many thousands of customers have left gm because of high prices and unreliable vehicles?

Think lost market share, and permanently lost customers forever.

But you crunch those numbers and feel good about gm’s idiocy.

  2. Hummer looks good design wise – especially the SUV. The Celestiq is an abomination in design and the person that okayed the design should be fired

    1. The Hummer would have been BA with a supercharged V8. Like an SUV version of the RAM TRX and Ford Raptor R. But it’s just another WEF forced EV as it sits.

  3. NOBODY WANTS EVS MARY especially in the form of a Humvee. Seriously could you imagine how many of these they’d sell with an LT4 or 6.6L Duramax in them? There would be a 4 year wait list and I’d be on it.

    1. GM sold about 200k EVs in 2024 in North America if you count the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX GM builds. That’s a decent number of vehicles where sales are growing.

  4. what a shame beautiful vehicles they would sell like hot cakes with diesel engine so much cooler than bronco and jeeps

  5. Not news when GM misses the market with a new product. Swing and a miss Mary.

    1. They made $1.4 billion on that “missed market.”

  6. Duramax swap it and see how fast they will sell. Fully restored and updated H1s can go for $200K easily over at Predator Inc.

  7. As over-priced as it is over-weight.

  9. I’ve had my Hummer EV 3X for about four months now, and I have to say—I absolutely love it. The off-road capabilities are incredible, and the fact that the roof can completely come off makes it even more fun to drive. The sound system is next-level, and Super Cruise is unbelievable for long drives. With over 1,000 lb-ft of torque, it’s insanely quick for a truck this size.

What I appreciate most is how versatile it is. I’ve got plenty of space in the front and back for my baby’s gear, my wife’s things, and even room for work equipment when I need it. It really handles everything I throw at it.

If I had one critique, it’s the range. Rated at 313 miles, but realistically, driving at around 80 mph brings it closer to 220 miles. That’s probably the biggest downside, but overall, this truck is fantastic.

If you haven’t had the chance to drive one yet, you’re missing out—get out there and experience it for yourself!

    1. This 9K lb vehicle qualifies for a Volt-Guzzler Tax. It worked on Gas-Guzzlers so why not this?
