2024 Chevy Colorado: GM Issues Fix For Over-The-Air Update Issues

GM has issued a Customer Satisfaction Program for certain units of the 2024 Chevy Colorado pickup truck, which may have a problem related to the Serial Data Gateway Module.

Per Customer Satisfaction Program number N242475020, affected 2024 Chevy Colorado trucks will be unable to receive over-the-air (OTA) software updates due to the current programming of the gateway module.

Dealers are instructed to apply the available remedy to any 2024 Chevy Colorado trucks brought to the dealership by their owners for any reason. The fix is also to be applied to any 2025 Colorado units in dealer inventory before they can be sold. The remedy is offered free of charge to owners through December 31st, 2026.

The fix does not require any new components. Instead, service personnel are to reprogram the Serial Data Gateway Module using SPS and the available updated software. This process takes around half an hour, including diagnosis and verification. After the reprogramming is complete, the truck should be able to receive OTA updates again and in the future.

The Chevy Colorado has been steadily rising through the sales rankings after launching the third-generation model for the 2023 model year. The 2024 model introduced a handful of updates and changes to the model, headlined by the off-road Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison variant.

For motivation, the 2024 Colorado was offered with two powerplants: the Turbo 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine developing 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and the Turbo High-Output 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine providing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. A third engine, the Turbo Plus 2.7L I4 L3B cranking out 310 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque, was dropped after the 2023 model year.

Under the body panels, all third-generation Chevy Colorados are underpinned by the updated 31XX-2 platform and production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

  1. After getting a call from a Chevy dealer on late Christmas Eve about a faulty TCM, a problem they had known about since October 24 of this year, I have lost all faith in GM’s ability to build sound reliable vehicles. Merry Christmas to you too.🎄

          1. Its not the Dealers fault, having to play Scrooge on Christmas Eve, its Their desperation to stay afloat selling a product reeking with electronic problems. I guess the real profit is In the company paying the Dealers to handling their endless recalls…. Who ever heard of a domestic vehicle with eight and ten speed transmissions.
