It would make perfect sense to cross-shop the Cadillac Lyriq with the Acura ZDX. Both of these electric luxury crossovers ride on the BEV3 platform with GM motors and batteries. In developing the ZDX using GM architecture, Acura had its own input in terms of exterior and interior design, suspension tuning, and the overall personality of the vehicle.
A few days ago, we gave you five reasons to buy an Acura ZDX rather than a Cadillac Lyriq. Today, we’re giving you five big advantages of the Cadillac Lyriq that might make the Caddy a better luxury EV for you.
Lyriq-V
It’s not out yet, but the upcoming Cadillac Lyriq-V will be a decidedly sportier vehicle than the Acura ZDX Type S. The sportiest ZDX produces 499 horsepower and 544 pound-feet of torque. Official specs of the Lyriq-V are forthcoming, but our best harbinger is the Chevy Blazer EV SS, which is rated at 595 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque.
33-Inch Display
The Cadillac Lyriq boasts a gorgeous 33-inch display housing the central infotainment screen and digital gauge cluster. Meanwhile, the Acura ZDX makes do with an 11.3-inch touchscreen display and an 11-inch digital gauge cluster. It’s fine, but the Lyriq’s slick display looks and feels more premium and modern.
Interior Design
The Cadillac Lyriq has a decidedly more interesting and unique interior design than the Acura ZDX. One could argue that ZDX has a sportier-looking cabin, but the Lyriq’s interior design just looks nicer and more premium, in our opinion. Furthermore, the ZDX has three interior color options, and the Lyriq has four, giving the Cadillac a little extra variety.
Lower Starting Price, More Variety
For the 2024 model year, the Acura ZDX starts at $65,850 (including destination), and the Cadillac Lyriq starts at $58,590. Pricing is up a little bit for the Lyriq for 2025, but it still starts at under $60k. Also, the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq has six trims: the 1, 2, and 3 variants of the Luxury and Sport models. Meanwhile, the ZDX is only available in A-Spec and Type S forms, with a Performance Wheel and Tire option for the Type S.
Available Massaging Seats
The Cadillac Lyriq trims with “2” and “3” in the name have massaging front seats. This luxurious feature isn’t available at all in the Acura ZDX. This highlights the different personalities of these luxury crossovers; the Cadillac is a little more comfort-focused, and the Acura is more performance-oriented, at least until the Lyriq-V comes out for the 2026 model year.
Comments
Butter or Margarine. Yesterday’s blowback was too much to handle. LOL.
6. The Acura is UGLY.
The better question is… why would you buy either one?
Lyriq hands down. Its the original of the two and there is simply nothing that looks like it anywhere else. Its a unique car and it drives like the land yacht that Caddys are known for despite it lacking the V8. I also like that it feels more like a large wagon (thinking of the Buick Roadmaster, or if the Fleetwood had a wagon version) than an SUV or even a crossover.
GM has failed without supporting Android Auto or Apple Carplay. Plus failure in only being 400V architecture. KIA/Hyundai/Genesis is a superior 800V platform. EV9 beats the Lyriq and ZDX. More interior room than either and has a useful frunk.
Buy the CT5 instead. Mary can push her electric cars and her agenda on others.
