Silverado Trail Boss LT: An Alternative To The Wood Trim Is Sorely Needed

While most folks don’t necessarily think about it, a vehicle’s interior trim plays a surprisingly  important role in its overall appeal and daily user experience. After all, if you’re in the cabin, it’s one of the main things you get to see every time the vehicle is driven. However, in the case of the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss LT, the lack of variety in trim materials is something of a limitation that GM has yet to address.

The interior of the 2025 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss LT.

Currently, the Silverado Trail Boss LT offers two options with regard interior colorways: Jet Black and Gideon / Very Dark Atmosphere, both of which are available either with cloth or leather upholstery. However, these interior colorways are only paired with one trim material – wood. This singular option seems out of place for an off-road-focused truck like the Trail Boss, as this rugged vehicle may be better suited with trim materials like metal or faux carbon fiber.

Interestingly, the lack of choice in interior trim material has persisted since the debut of the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss LT for the 2019 model year. While some aftermarket solutions do exist, they are far from ideal for a truck in this price range, especially considering GM’s capability to offer factory-installed alternatives.

What do you think, dear reader? Should the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss LT offer an alternative to the wood interior trim? Vote in the poll below, and make sure to post your suggestions for an interior trim option in the comments.

As a reminder, the Chevy Silverado 1500 offers four engine options, including the TurboMax 2.7L I4 L3B, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax. The Chevy Silverado 1500 rides on the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at GM’s facilities in Fort Wayne, Indiana; Oshawa, Canada; and Silao, Mexico.

  1. Looks good as is!

    1. Have you seen it in person? The faux wood doesn’t match the personality of the truck, especially if this truck is being purchased by younger customers who do not desire wood.

  2. I like the fake wood trim if done tastefully. It’s kind of been gone long enough that it looks OK again. Some of it got pretty obnoxious though, like the shiney plastic burlwood in the early 2000’s.

  3. The trim from the Tahoe RST could look good in the Silverado Trail Boss.

  4. More interior colors for most all makers. The any color you want as long as it’s black or gray phase needs to be over

  5. Nothing says “off road” better than wood. Unless you want dirt trim. That’s more off-road than even wood.

  6. I have a 2021 Trail Boss with only 19,000 miles on it. I actually love the wood trim… doesn’t bother me at all. It’s a beautiful vehicle and I get tons of compliments on it

    1. I always wonder this when people say they get tons of compliments on their stock or nearly stock pickup truck. What crap town do you live in where you get tons of compliments on a vehicle like that?

Also, it isn’t “beautiful”, it is a truck. A 1966 E-Type, a Bugatti Atlantic, Lamborghini Miura, those are “beautiful” vehicles…

As far as the article is concerned, an off road focused truck is out doorsy, outdoors is trees which are woods, seems fitting to me versus carbon fiber that you see on a race track car or piano black in a more luxury vehicle.

  7. Aren’t there some optional trims available through Chevrolet Accessories? I seem to remember different trim available through Chevrolet and GMC dealer parts departments as part of the line of GM Accessories. Of course, this was three years ago when I bought my Sierra Denali, so who knows if my rapidly fading memory’s correct?

  8. Do away with it please put something else in it’s place just doesn’t look like a truck with that stuff in there and I’m sure you can come up with something better than that fake wood look anyway but if you don’t do it the aftermarket will so I’m not interested in it anyway because you’re trucks don’t hold up to farm work like they one’s did so I’m going with a Ford truck because you don’t offer big motors anymore in your vehicles…
