LSX-Powered Chevy C10 Is A 700-Horsepower Brawler: Video

Looks can be deceiving. Like the quiet guy at the bar that can throw a punch if pushed, this humble 1968 Chevy C10 might look like a well-worn pickup, but as soon as you mat the throttle, it’s capable of surprising even dedicated sports cars with a shot of raw, rowdy performance. Now, we’re getting a closer look thanks to the following video feature.

The rear view of a modified 1968 Chevy C10.

Once again coming to us from the folks at AutotopiaLA, this 1968 Chevy C10 was built by Jerry Zaiden, founder of Camburg Racing, who transformed the humble workhorse into a high-powered machine that dominates the road.

At the core of the build is a tall-deck LSX engine originally designed for trophy trucks competing in the grueling Baja 1000. Rebuilt for street use, this powerhouse delivers nearly 700 horsepower, featuring a custom fuel injection system that mimics a carbureted design in terms of appearance. The V8 is paired with a Tick Performance T56 manual transmission and is juiced by an Aeromotive fuel system.

Upgrades to the C10’s chassis and suspension system further enhance its capabilities. A Roadster Shop FastTrack chassis, equipped with Corvette-style suspension, keep the V8 in check. Complementing the setup are manual Wilwood six-piston brakes, housed under US Mag wheels and carbon fiber wheel tubs.

Despite its raw power, the truck retains its old-school aesthetic. The patina body, hail-dented panels, and factory grease markings are preserved, paying homage to its work truck origins. Inside, the cabin features a TMI bench seat, Vintage Air climate control, and a stock-style gauge cluster, offering a balance of simplicity and modern comfort.

The build prioritizes a driver-focused experience with a manual clutch and braking system. Meanwhile, the MagnaFlow custom exhaust system delivers an aggressive soundtrack.

In the video, the C10 showcases its agility and raw power, effortlessly cruising highways and accelerating with some serious aggression. Indeed, this thing is meant to be driven, and driven hard.
