Refreshed for the 2024 model year with new exterior, interior, and tech features, the 2025 Buick Encore GX introduces even more changes to the Tri-Shield brand’s subcompact crossover, most notably a flex-fuel E85-capable engine. Customers should note that this is the final week in which the 2025 Buick Encore GX will be available to order in Cinnabar Metallic paint (color code GFM).
It’s unclear if Cinnabar Metallic will be available to order for the 2026 model-year Encore GX, but we think it’s unlikely. It could be dropped or replaced by an entirely new paint color. Since it’s the only red hue for the 2025 Encore GX, it would likely be replaced by a new red if it were dropped. This paint color will be built during the week of February 24th, 2025. Of note, the same paint option is being built out in the same week for the 2025 Buick Envista.
For now, at least, the 2025 Buick Encore GX offers Cinnabar Metallic paint in all trim levels. It can also be combined with any interior colorway. Cinnabar Metallic costs $495 extra on the Preferred and Sport Touring trims, but it’s a no-charge color on the top Avenir trim.
Cinnabar Metallic paint was introduced to the Buick Encore GX paint options list with the 2022 model year, dropping in alongside three other new exterior paint options: Sapphire Metallic (GGK), Sunset Glow Metallic (GHD), and Rosewood Metallic (GHL). Notably, Cinnabar Metallic is the only one of those four new-for-2022 paint options that are still available for the 2025 model year. Sapphire Metallic was effectively replaced by Ocean Blue Metallic (GK9).
Two powerplants are available for the 2025 Buick Encore GX. One of these, the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP engine, replaces the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine and develops the same output, 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, while offering E85 fuel compatibility. It is offered at the entry-level Preferred trim level with FWD. The other powerplant is the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine, rated at 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque.
The 2025 Buick Encore GX utilizes the GM VSS-F vehicle set for structure. Production takes place at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea.

Green please! Dark or light, any would be welcomed.
Because of the paint upcharge on all but basic white, 90% of the ones on my dealer’s lot were white. We bought one. But cinnabar was one of the best of the others.
Beachy – if 90% of the one’s on your dealer’s lot (the same dealer that told you the Envista is garbage but the GX is gold, even though they share many underpinnings and are made at the same plant) are white, would that not indicate to you that people, indeed, are ok with a paint upcharge? Hence why 90% of the units on the lot are white, because people didn’t want basic Summit White.
