Unlike China, where a brand-new generation of the Cadillac XT5 is launching, the U.S. variant of the 2025 Cadillac XT5 features only modest updates and changes from the 2024 model year. Right now, GM Authority is zooming on the towing capacities for the 2025 Cadillac XT5.
Before we get into the meat and potatoes of how much the crossover can tow, here’s an overview of the 2025 Cadillac XT5 powerplant choices. Under the hood, the crossover cradles either the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine developing 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, or the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine providing 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque.
Both engines are paired with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, while FWD is the standard configuration and AWD is offered as an option. The axle ratio is 3.47, or 3.49 with the Smart Towing Package (RPO code V92).
With this groundwork information in place, here are the actual 2025 Cadillac XT5 towing capacities:

As can be seen, most variants of the 2025 XT5 have a maximum towing capacity of 1,000 pounds. This rises to 3,500 pounds when the aforementioned Smart Towing Package is equipped. These towing figures are precisely the same as those for the 2024 Cadillac XT5.
General Motors has the usual lineup of recommendations for optimizing the towing experience with the 2025 Cadillac XT5, which can be found in the user’s manual. Among these are recommendations to avoid towing at all during the first 500-mile driving break-in period after first getting a new XT5, with the additional caveat that the first 500 miles of towing after this should be at 50 mph or less and without full-throttle starts.
Furthermore, GM recommends deactivating the following features, if present, on any vehicle for best towing results:
- Park Assist
- Reverse Automatic Braking
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Rear Cross Traffic Braking
- Lane Change Alert
- Adaptive Cruise Control
As a reminder, the 2025 Cadillac XT5 is supported by the GM C1 platform under the body panels. Production of the luxury crossover takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
