The fourth-generation Chevy Silverado HD was refreshed for the 2024 model year, with the subsequent 2025 Chevy Silverado HD debuting a few important updates and changes, including the new Silverado HD Trail Boss. As expected, the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD once again provides impressive capabilities when it comes to towing and hauling. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD payload ratings.
As was the case for the 2024 model year, the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD is offered with two different engines, starting with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 464 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm, and followed by the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 470 horsepower at 2,800 rpm and 975 pound-feet of torque at 1,600 rpm.
The 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline is equipped as standard, while the 6.6L V8 L5P Duramax is optional. It’s also worth noting that the 6.6L V8 L5P was uprated with the recent mid-cycle refresh, with the engine rated at 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque prior to the 2024 model year. Both powerplants connect to the Allison-branded GM 10-speed automatic transmission.
