GM Celebrates 14 Years Of The Cheyenne Brigade In Mexico

As it does on every anniversary, General Motors announced the 14th anniversary of its flagship Cheyenne Brigade social responsibility program in Mexico.

The automaker is celebrating 14 years of operations of the Cheyenne Brigade in Mexico, consolidating itself as the program with the longest track record and social impact developed in the Mexican automotive industry. As such, the Cheyenne Brigade is a key initiative of GM Mexico’s Social Responsibility strategy that transports construction materials, basic supplies and humanitarian aid to hard-to-reach communities throughout the country.

“For General Motors Mexico, supporting the communities in which we operate is an essential commitment,” said Communications and Public Relations Director of GM Mexico, Tere Cid. “In its 14 years of history, the Cheyenne Brigade has traveled more than 750,000 kilometers providing assistance in emergencies and executing projects that promote the well-being of people, thus reaffirming our commitment to the development of Mexico,” she added.

GM Mexico states that the Cheyenne Brigade has benefited more than 770,000 people, bringing support to more than 350 vulnerable communities in that country in collaboration with multiple non-profit civil associations such as the Red Cross, Cadena and Un Kilo de Ayuda, among others. In calendar year 2024 alone, the Cheyenne Brigade impacted more than 40,000 people and visited more than 27 communities throughout the territory of Mexico.

Since its official inception in late 2010, the Cheyenne Brigade has been powered by several fleets of Chevrolet’s flagship full-size pickup trucks in the country and is currently comprised of Chevy Cheyenne ZR2 units, with greater off-road capabilities to reach the most remote areas of Mexico. The team’s objective is to transport food, essential items, supplies and support to regions affected by emergencies and natural disasters.

In the year that the Cheyenne Brigade celebrates its 14th anniversary, the social responsibility program distributed half a million N1 and N95 masks produced at the GM Toluca complex in the State of Mexico to hospitals, clinics, and foundations. In addition, it transported nearly 16 tons of humanitarian aid to support those affected by Hurricane Otis in the state of Guerrero and strengthened its focus on education and community development in collaboration with new civil associations.
