Ex-Paul Walker 1967 Chevy II Sport Coupe Sells For Huge Money

Chevrolet introduced the Chevy II for the 1962 model year as an economy car and a direct competitor for the Ford Falcon. Commonly referred to as the Chevy II Nova, or just Nova, the Nova moniker would remain a trim level until the car was renamed Nova for the 1969 model year. The first-generation Chevy II would last until it was redesigned for the 1966 model year. It was available with either an inline four-cylinder displacing 153 cubic inches, or with the 194 cube inline six, both equipped with overhead valves. There was no V8 available for the Chevy II for the first two years of production.

The second generation would span just two production years, 1966 and 1967. Style lines were sharper, and the coupe roofline resembled a fastback design. The Chevy II could be had in two-door post, two-door coupe, four-door sedan, and four-door wagon configurations. Trim levels included the Chevy II 100, Chevy II 400 Nova, and for the coupes, the Super Sport trim (appearing in the sales brochure as the Chevrolet Chevy II Nova SS, but the Nova moniker was found nowhere on the car) could be had for the first time. The Super Sport, or SS trim came with the standard 194 cubic-inch inline six, wider rocker panels, and bright aluminum trim on the trunk lid. The grille and rear light panel received SS emblems, with Super Sport script applied to quarter panels. Wheel covers were the same as the 1965 Malibu SS. The interior was upgraded with Strato-bucket front seats, and an optional tachometer could be had. The Super Sport trim became the Nova SS trim for 1967.

Aside from the exterior body, our feature Chevy II bears little resemblance to its original six cylinder form. Once owned by the late actor Paul Walker (of Fast and Furious franchise fame), this Chevy II has been thoroughly modified with a 6.0-liter LQ9 Vortec V8 backed by a 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission, headers, dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, BeCool aluminum radiator, a Moser twelve-bolt Positraction rear end, Wilwood four-wheel power disc brakes, Wheel Vintiques wheels wearing BFGoodrich g-Force Sport Comp-2 225/45R17 tires in front with BFGoodrich g-Force T/A 295/35R17s on the back, a Heidts front subframe, a four-link rear suspension, QA-1 adjustable coilovers all around, and Mustang II power steering rack. A tag in the engine compartment identifies the vehicle as Year One Project Car #YR107.

Inside, the Chevy II has been upgraded with Vintage Air climate control, custom dash panel with AutoMeter Ultra Lite gauges, Lecarra steering wheel, tilt column, center console, retro-style stereo, and late-model GM seats with custom upholstery. The exterior was treated to a cowl-induction hood, dual side mirrors, new chrome bumpers and trim, and a coat of Porsche Slate Gray paint.

This stunning Chevy II recently sold on Bring a Trailer for just over $97,500 plus fees.

  2. In 1971, I bought a ’66 Nova SS; Marina Blue with matching interior. and a 283 /4 speed. It had Cragar wheels and Thrush mufflers. Fun little car. I sold it because Uncle Sam wanted me.

  3. 66/67 Nova is one of the sharpest cars made. Clean, simple, excellent style and lines. Wish I had one.
