The Chevy Corvette is no stranger to the prestigious Car and Driver 10Best Cars list, and it earns a spot again on the 2025 list. Specifically, the Stingray and E-Ray models, which continue to be widely regarded throughout the automotive press as the best bang for the buck in performance cars, bar none.
“Part of the magic of this high-performance sports car is how each model in the lineup feels both unique and uniquely Corvette,” writes Car and Driver associate editor Jack Fitzgerald. “From the 490-hp Stingray to the first-ever all-wheel-drive Vette in the form of the E-Ray, and right up to the shatteringly quick Z06, each version of the Corvette combines track-scorching capability and explosive acceleration with supple-for-a-supercar ride quality and everyday usability.”
We couldn’t agree more. The way Chevy managed to introduce so much variety to the Corvette lineup is spectacular, and it picks up a stunning new ZR1 variant for 2025, which is the fastest American car of all time.
“The Vette is the only mid-engine V8 sports car that sneaks in under our price cap, making it a superb value,” C&D editor Joe Lorio said. “But its performance makes it a smash hit.”
The only reason the Z06 isn’t included in the honor is because Car and Driver sets a $110,000 price ceiling for its 10Best list. That means the E-Ray just barely sneaks into the 10Best club, but the pricier Z06 isn’t allowed in.
Other two-door sports cars on this year’s 10Best list include the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman and the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GR86, which are platform-mates combined into one entry. The Car and Driver staff likes those two-doors for a similar reason they like the Corvette: they stick to a traditional sports car formula at a reasonable price point.
The C8 Corvette isn’t the only GM model on the 10Best list this year. It’s joined by the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. These luxury sport sedans from Cadillac strike a balance of performance, luxury, and value that none of their European rivals can match, and it’s good to see them get this recognition.

Would be nice if they get their DCTs fixed and running!
