The GM Authority Take

The slight but notable drop in Chevrolet Argentina sales during November continues to lengthen the Bow Tie’s poor performance in the South American country, where it continues to lose volume and market share despite the improvement that the Argentine automotive market has just begun to experience. In fact, last month’s result represents Chevy’s 13th consecutive month in the red in Argentina.

The primary reason for the poor performance in November is the expected decline in volume from the discontinued Chevy Cruze and a newfound (and quite considerable) drop in sales of the Chevy Onix, which was up just the month before (in October). Combined, the two nameplates sapped a significant 550 units on a year-over-year basis, tipping the overall balance to the red.

Meanwhile, most other Chevy models offered in the country managed to make healthy volume gains in a very healthy way, growing by two, three and even four digits. Among them, the most notable was undoubtedly the best-selling Chevy Tracker, which again recorded sales of over 1,200 units to regain its position as the best-selling crossover in its category – and the second most popular – in the Argentine market.
