The GM Authority Take

The increase in Cadillac XT4 sales during Q3 2024 represented the first gain for the recently-refreshed model in 2024, likely as a result of better availability along with an attractive and competitive product. The increase is bittersweet, since the XT4 is ironically and suddenly being put out to pasture.

GM’s initial plan was to pause XT4 production for much of the 2025 calendar year as the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City gets retooled for the next-generation of the Chevy Bolt EV, expected to arrive for the 2026 model year. Now, however, XT4 production is slated to end in January 2025, which means the refresh of the small luxury crossover will have lasted just two model years before the nameplate is sunset.

Adding even more irony to the matter is the fact that the refreshed 2025 Cadillac XT4 was just officially introduced in Japan after launching in the Middle East this past summer.

Meanwhile, Buick Envision sales were so healthy that it jumped up to second place in the segment, while the XT4 remained in seventh. With both models in the green here in Q3 2024, combined sales put GM within spitting distance of first place overall to nearly unseat the perennially best-selling Lexus NX.

All that is in spite of the two small crossovers facing strong competition from the likes of Acura, Audi, BMW, Genesis, Lexus, crosstown rival Lincoln, and Mercedes-Benz.

About Cadillac XT4

The 2025 Cadillac XT4 arrives with more standard safety features than the refreshed 2024 model, including the Active Safety Package, offered as standard on Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. However, it will drop two safety features: Automatic Speed Limit Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Also, the 2025 XT4 drops the Luxury trim level, with the Premium Luxury becoming the entry-level trim.

Here are the 2025 XT5 paint colors, the interior colorways, and available wheels.

Under the hood, the 2025 XT4 carries over the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, producing 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission for both front-wheel- and all-wheel-drive configurations, with the latter featuring GM’s Intelligent Dual-Clutch AWD system.

The 2025 XT4 can tow up to 3,500 pounds when equipped with the Trailering Package.

First-ever 2025 Cadillac Optiq, an EV replacement for the XT4

About Cadillac Optiq

The new all-electric 2025 Cadillac Optiq is now the entry-level EV offering to eventually replace the XT4, which itself received a refresh for the 2024 model year. The Optiq is offered in four trim levels, namely Luxury 1, Sport 1, Luxury 2, and Sport 2.

Standard features found across the board include a dual-motor drivetrain, 33-inch diagonal LED display, a 19-speaker AKG Studio audio system, and GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist technology. Luxury 2 and Sport 2 trim also include head-up display, ventilated and massaging front seats, and choreographed lighting with fancier headlamps and taillamps.

Safety tech includes many standard safety features, but isn’t limited to Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Enhanced Automatic Parking, and Forward Collision Alert.

All-wheel drive is standard, underpinned by the GM BEV3 platform utilizing GM Ultium battery and GM Ultium Drive motor technologies for motivation. It comes with a GM-estimated range of 300 miles on a full charge, while the dual motors, powered by an 85 kW battery pack, together produce 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque.

Production takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

  3. Wife loves our 2024 XT4 Premium Luxury bought in October or so, $47,165 list including Comfort & Convenience Package at $850 (didn’t want all the things added in 2025 model) Cold Weather Package also at $850, sunroof, radiant red tint oat. Got $1500 off sticker. I would never be interested in the new Optiq EV replacing it as the closest charging station to us is 45 miles away at the mall that is slowly dying. In fact, I know no one in our area of NE MS that owns an EV although I see a Tesla passing through at times.
