We were just kidding when we said GM announced the Chevy Corvette Trail Boss on April Fool’s Day in 2022, but some of you took the idea to heart. For example, a heavily modified C6 Corvette Trail Boss was recently spotted with an image posted to the r/Battlecars subreddit.

C8 Trail Boss April Fool’s rendering
For those unfamiliar, r/Battlecars is a place on Reddit where car enthusiasts share interesting off-road builds of cars that aren’t normally intended to be off-roaders. “Bring us your tired, your poor, your rusty and dented… and maybe a welder,” says the subreddit’s description. “A subreddit for showcasing and discussing rally, offroad, and overland passenger cars.”
Now, on to this interesting C6. It has massive tires jutting out of the four corners, wrapping some odd-looking blue wheels. It appears some body chopping has taken place to accommodate those huge tires, but it looks like a pretty clean job with nice, smooth wheel arches.
Saw this posted elsewhere. Figured you lot would appreciate it.

The C6 was the last in a long line of Corvettes to have a large, curved rear windshield on the coupe models, which was both an aerodynamic benefit and a nod to the car’s heritage. However, this Trail Boss model does things a little differently. It has a strange louver covering the whole rear windshield, losing some of the clean and aerodynamic shape of the C6. Its sharp angles and intimidating fins really complete the “Battlecar” aesthetic of this build.
Naturally, it also boasts “Trail Boss” stickers on the rear quarter panels. The license plate reads “4X4C6,” which we’re guessing is just the car calling itself an off-roader. We doubt it really has four-wheel drive, but you never know. We wish we could see the front of the car, and we hope it has the obligatory winch of every proper off-road build.
“It looks like an old school RC car,” commented one Redditor. “Those louvers are ridiculous, and I love them,” said another. Perhaps our favorite comment is, “Looks like a Transformer sneezing.”
This car reminds us of another C6 Trail Boss build that showed up for sale in Illinois back in August (shown above). It was actually pretty similar to this Lemans Blue one but without the scary rear louver.

I had a set of black aluminum louvers on the back glass of my ’86 Camaro. They were cool for, I think, a grand total of 15 seconds. They ended up in a shed.
Get rid of the Pep Boys louvers that look like they’re warped from the sun, and everything else is spot-on.
Good luck getting far with that RWD tho.
Reminds me of the old days when wider tires looked great on the back and slightly narrower tires on the front. Very sharp. I bet it was an old guy that did that up.
Pretty stupid looking.
I like it but you pretty much need the same diameter tires all the way around with four wheel drive and this doesn’t appear to have them. Disappointing. Good idea though.
