General Motors introduced a mid-cycle refresh for the Cadillac CT5 sedan in conjunction with the 2025 model year, showing off updated styling and advanced technology enhancements. These updates extend to the high-performance V-Series variants, including the CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing. While GM officially began 2025 Cadillac CT5 production at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in October, some order holders report their vehicles have been assembled since August but remain undelivered, sparking frustration among customers.
GM Authority has received multiple customer reports which assert their new 2025 Cadillac CT5 V-Series has been sitting idle at the production facility for three months or longer.
One order holder, Ken J., shared this: “Mine was built on August 14th and it is now December 4th and still no real answers. Would like the truth.”
Another frustrated owner, Mike P., stated: “My CT5-V Blackwing was built in September. It’s now December 2nd and it’s still sitting at the plant accumulating snow.”
“Does it really take over 90 days for a built product to leave the plant?” Mike adds.
Derek B. sent us this: “It’s now been over three months since my 2025 CT5 Blackwing was made but it’s still sitting at the plant collecting dust and snow? […] I’ve had BMWs built in Europe shipped in less than two weeks.”
The growing frustration among customers stems not only from the lengthy wait times, but also from a perceived lack of communication between Cadillac, dealerships, and customers. For luxury performance sedans like the CT5-V Blackwing, often ordered by enthusiasts, the delays and lack of transparency are particularly disappointing.
When GM Authority reached out to Cadillac for clarification, the brand offered the following statement:
“Cadillac still plans to begin shipping 2025MY vehicles before end of the year which aligns with what we announced at reveal. Securely parking vehicles after production is a normal output of our planned approach.”
While Cadillac maintains that this strategy is part of its planned production and delivery timeline, customers remain skeptical about the logistics causing such extended delays. It’s unclear what may be contributing to the issue.
The 2025 Cadillac CT5 V-Series models are central to Cadillac’s performance lineup, with the CT5-V powered by the twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 LGY gasoline engine, rated at 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque, and the flagship CT5-V Blackwing cradling the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4, rated at 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque.

Soundslike Hyundai/Kia, keeping prices high by restricting supply. THEY just don’t build enough, but this…is ATROCIOUS.
Are there unsold 2024 units?
Like 250plus in the country so yes
And still with dealer markups, which is insane
Well, Cadillac site did say it will be available late 2024 according to the disclaimer. Customers should get the Vs soon hopefully.
I think it is better to build them ahead of time instead of building them the last minute within the availability date and piss the customers off even further.
When I ordered my 2025 CT5 V-series the dealer told me after the car is produced, which was Aug. 14, that it would take 4-6 weeks for delivery. Now the car sits in Lansing parking lot in the weather with rain, snow and gods know what else. This is no way to do business. Now we have to wait until the cars are loaded on the railroad cars and I was told it would be another two weeks once the train starts to move out. Maybe I will be able to take delivery in January, which will be 5 months since the car was produced.
Wish you luck…ordered last August of 2023 a XT4 and was told it would be in my hands and my rear in the seat by November. Well, it was early MAY before I saw the SUV and a week after that before the dealer released the SUV to me. This is not service. Amazing that the dealer had my 5500$ deposit for that period of time and never credited me with one cent of interest on my $$$$’s. Don’t hold your breath that that Cadillac you ordered will get to you on time…
Why did you put a 5500 deposit on an XT4? Genuinely curious.
Cadillac doesn’t ship one sold vehicle at a time. You load the transport up with sold and unsold units.
Delay, Deny, & Defend, where have I heard that lately?
I feel their pain, after ordering a Lyriq in May of 2022 and NO communication from GM/Cadillac until October 2023. The car was finally built in December 2023 and the dealer was unable to get a firm delivery date before February 29, 2024 when my COSTO $1,000 discount expired. I finally found one rolling off the truck on February 28 at another dealer and bought that one.
I finally came to the conclusion after using the MyCadillac app, that GM hates their customers.
I wanted a ‘25 V or at least the twin turbo Premium luxury but none built anywhere and dealer said (this week) any CT5 special orders are at least 8-10 weeks, not sure about the V’s, prob longer. I found a ‘25 CT5 sport AWD in the exact configuration I would have ordered (minus the twin turbo six which isn’t offered). Bought it, really nice car, definitely more show than go with the 2.0 turbo but fits my needs and looks great. I no longer have the patience to wait many months for a car (like I did for my last 2). I feel for those waiting for V’s and Blackwings, especially when they are already built! You can find’24’s but they don’t have the upgraded front fascia and full length displays.
I suppose after waiting nearly 3 years for my BW to go into production, I can wait a few more weeks for it to arrive. Quite an interesting process for a $100K+ vehicle🤷🏻♂️
Just another example of why GM continues to lose customers. Who wants a new car that has set out in the weather for 3-5 months? GM/Cadillac hiding something.
Yes they are, hiding their incompetence!
I’d be pretty upset.
It’s a GM problem. My 2022 Camaro SS convertible was built and the dealer was invoiced on May 5, 2022. Only waited 9 months for GM to build it. For the next four months and 5 days I reached out to GM everyday via chat, email, and phone. No one within GM could tell me where my car was or when it would arrive. Even the dealer couldn’t get any information out of GM for mine or an SS 1LE Coupe they ordered a week before mine.
On Sunday, September 11th, with no notification, both cars showed up at the dealer, delivered by a guy in a Silverado 3500, towing both on a trailer. After both cars spent two weeks each at a body shop getting rail dust buffed out of the paint, the dealer discovered in the paperwork that both cars had sat at the GM Lansing Grand River Assembly plant for over four months before they were loaded on rail cars and shipped. Three weeks before my car showed up, I test drove a 22 ZL1 convertible that was built in late July at a dealer 3 1/2 hours away from me. It was built almost three months after mine, took a train h to o Petersburg, Virginia, then a pick-up and trailer ride to within 3 hours of me, basically the same trip mine would take a couple of weeks later. GM has no clue what they are doing!
Same with my wife’s 2022 Camaro SS, but was closer to 11 months from the time we placed order, & during the time, very little info was available, even after built. This was just to get our SS from Michigan to Oklahoma. Funny thing was that we placed order for 2022 4Runner same time & only took 3 months & it had to come from Japan. We understood that in 2022, things were still not 100% from the virus fiasco, but when gm gets the vehicles built, they need to be shipped a whole lot quicker than they have been doing. Bu what it comes down to, is that gm doesn’t really care about its customers the way they used to. Good thing was we worked with dealers that understood we were not under any circumstances paying extra, like some dealers were doing at the time.
This Sounds like possibly a bug in the new display screen or other areas.
Another possibility is they are built missing certain part(s) that can be added
after production. IE they made Super Cruise standard on CT5, now maybe they
don’t have the S.C. parts?
You are correct in that it could be any number of reasons. The first thing that comes to mind in the case of the refreshed CT5 is that OEM’s will frequently do a build and hold on new models. They build them and hold in the lot for further quality control as well as making larger batch shipments to dealers. You do also have the possibility of built shy vehicle in which they are missing a component. We saw a lot of this coming out of Covid with vehicles sitting all over towns with Assembly plants waiting on certain parts to complete the builds.
Interesting I’ve tried to get an allocation for Bw 2025 for last 6 months every dealer and top exec has no clue and no info. Some will take deposits but no actual allocation.
So they aloud orders in when?? How does that guy have a Bw allocation? Must work for GM top tier too.
The vehicles are waiting for a software update. GM won’t release them until the associated software changes are installed. The fact they recently laid off a large number of people in the software group impacts not just EV but many ICE models. The Canyon/Colorado trucks were delayed for the same reasons. Not known if this is related to their decision to drop Apple/Android auto support.
My CT5 V was built 11/14/24 and is in hold status, I believe you may be right, awaiting software update. Or it may be a massive shipment in December to match published launch date 1/2025 of new model and marketing blitz scheduled for January.
I could have opted for the $3,400 “Enclosed Delivery” and probably had it by now…
My husband’s CT-5V was built on 08/14/2024 and here it is 01/05/2025and still in Lansing, MI. My vehicle was built overseas and arrived in the states much quicker than Cadillac’s CT-5V. I am disgusted with American made vehicles, especially Cadillac as they never give you an answer as to why it is still sitting in a lot covered with ice, snow, and who knows what else.
