2025 Chevy Tahoe, Suburban High Country Units Arriving With Wrong Wheel Finish

The 2025 model year debuts a mid-cycle refresh for GM’s full-size SUV lineup, including the Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban. Among the updates are new styling cues, improved interior technology, and a selection of new wheel designs. Unfortunately, early units of the 2025 Chevy Tahoe High Country and 2025 Chevy Suburban High Country have been delivered to dealers equipped with wheels with the wrong finish.

Essentially, GM Authority has learned that while the wheels equipped by affected units are indeed the correct design, the finish isn’t what it should be.

For those readers who may be unaware, the 2025 Chevy Tahoe High Country and 2025 Chevy Suburban High Country are equipped as standard with the 22-inch Bright Machined and After Midnight-painted aluminum wheels (RPO code R4H) – however, on affected units, the After Midnight finish, which is characterized by its darker appearance, is missing. Instead, the wheels on these affected units appear to feature a Silver or Pearl Nickel finish, which is lighter in tone.

At this time, the exact number of units affected by this issue remains unclear, as does GM’s plan to rectify the issue. The vehicles were assembled at GM’s Arlington plant in Texas, and it’s uncertain whether GM will proactively replace the incorrect wheels, or address concerns on a case-by-case basis.

As a reminder, the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and 2025 Chevy Suburban continue to ride on GM’s T1 platform, shared with vehicles like the Chevy Silverado 1500. Engine options include the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound of torque; the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and finally, the new-for-2025 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodeisel Duramax, rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.

  • Hello. I'm new to GM Authority. Planning to order a High Country in February when super cruise is available. Does anyone have an update on these wheels regarding the midnight black accent? I really like that look, so I'm hoping that they did not change the design to the lighter color.
