Stunning 1972 Chevy Blazer CST 4×4 Up For Auction In Oregon

The Chevy Blazer bowed for the 1969 model year as a direct competitor to the International Harvester Scout and Ford Bronco. The K5 Blazer was constructed on a shortened Chevy K10 half-ton pickup truck frame, meaning the Blazer was larger than the competition. That first year of production, the Blazer was available only with four-wheel drive, a two-wheel-drive version debuting for the 1970 model year. The first generation of the Blazer, with its fully removable hardtop, would be built from 1969 through 1972.

Our feature 1972 Chevy Blazer CST 4×4 has been the subject of a stunning restoration. Bodywork is smooth, showing extensive care given to finish preparation. It has been treated to a high-quality glossy refinish in Medium Olive over White that is likely far better than the factory finish when new. The removable hardtop is finished in the same white hue. Chrome bumpers and trim appear to be either new or replated, and all stainless trim has been well polished. Panel gaps look to be reasonably consistent, again likely better than new. All glass is crystal clear and free from wiper tracks, road pepper, or any visible flaws. Weatherstrip looks to be recent and pliable. Lights and lenses are all clear and present as new. The whole affair rolls on fifteen-inch painted steel truck Rally wheels shod in 33×12.5-inch BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 radial rubber.

Inside the Chevy Blazer, the dash, doors, and sills are finished in glossy Medium Olive paint.  Door sills also have bright polished stainless trim that are free from any marks. Seats front and rear have been recovered in green vinyl with green and black houndstooth cloth inserts, while the dash pad and door panels are in the same green finish. No wear is present on the seat bolsters, suggesting little if any use since completion. Carpets are the low-pile loop variety, and appear showroom fresh. The dash trim and gauges keep with the brand-new appearance theme, with painted and chrome finishes that pop. The dash features a 100 mph speedometer, gauges for fuel level, amperage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. An aftermarket head unit of similar dimensions to the original has been fitted, but now doubt benefits from Bluetooth capability. The Blazer is equipped with power brakes with front discs, power steering, air conditioning, and an interior roll bar.

The Chevy Blazer engine bay has been given the same attention to detail as the rest of truck. The inner fenders are finished in standard matte black, but the firewall has been treated to the same glossy Medium Olive as the body. Lines and hoses have been tidied for a cleaner look. Powering the Chevy Blazer is a rebuilt LS9 350 cubic-inch Small Block V8 rated at 175 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. The 350 Small Block has been refinished to factory spec with factory decals applied. Backing the LS9 is a three-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a Positraction rear differential. The front hubs lock in manually.

This beautifully restored 1972 Chevy Blazer CST 4×4 is currently being auctioned on Bring a Trailer with the sale ending Friday, November 29th.

  1. Beautiful restoration. I had a 1969 K5 Blazer. Wish I still had it!

  2. GM should bring back the 2 door Blazer/Tahoe with some of the new technology but not too much of it though.
