Some GMC Sierra HD, Yukon Units Were Delivered Without An Illuminated Grille Emblem

According to a recently released Customer Satisfaction Program from General Motors, certain GMC Sierra HD, Yukon, and Yukon XL units were delivered without the Illuminated Front Grille Emblem (LPO RN2) that the customer or dealer ordered.

According to the bulletin, some GMC trucks and SUVs that were optioned with the illuminated GMC emblem in the front grille were delivered without the illuminated emblem installed. It appears that the option was made unavailable after the affected units were already ordered and paid for.

The models that need this option either installed or refunded include the following, according to Customer Satisfaction Program number N242477520:

For the 2025 GMC Sierra HD – including the 2500 HD and 3500 HD models – the illuminated front grille emblem was available as a standalone option or as part of the Denali Illumination Package (LPO RGL) available on the Denali and Denali Ultimate trims.

As for the 2024 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, the illuminated emblem was available on the SLT, AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trim levels as part of the Illumination Package (LPO RGL). The package was only available to order during May, June, and July 2024 but unavailable throughout the rest of the 2024 model year.

Owners of the affected trucks and SUVs get a choice of having the emblem they ordered installed or a reimbursement check in the amount of $550. For reference, the standalone option on the Sierra HD was $450, and the Illumination Package for the Yukon/Yukon XL was $525. The labor to install the emblem takes about an hour.

These vehicles are marked in the GM Global Warranty Management system, with their Investigate Vehicle History screen containing the notice “Open” to indicate the repairs are needed.

The customer satisfaction program is in effect until November 30th, 2026.

Other recent service bulletins affecting GMC vehicles include one from July 2024 remedying an intermittent trailer brake loss issue for the 2024 GMC Sierra HD, another for a battery drain on the GMC Yukon, and another one in August for engine block contamination in Yukon models equipped with the 5.3L V8 L84 powerplant.

  1. Such a horrific tragedy. I wouldn’t want that illuminated anyway. It’s mere advertisement.

  2. Lemme’ see now, we got along for how many decades without an “illuminated” GMC emblem on our vehicles ? And it’s extra cost too ? ROTFLMAO !

  3. I think that it would be pretty neat to have the illuminated GMC emblem on the grille, but not for a $525 option!

  4. They are junk anyways. They are not water resistant and develop shorts. I’ve had 2 replaced. Never again

  5. I truly wonder what is going on with GM…. I can’t believe how many recalls and services bulletings I see since I subscribed to GMAuthority… It was not like that in the day…. And it seems not only a GM thing… Seems all brands including big rigs brands are affected by a storm of recalls since the last couple years….

At the price the new vehicles sell for since a couple years, especially light trucks, customers can expect top quality vehicles… Not vehicles that get recalls one after the other for all sorts of assembly issues… This is really scary… I bought a brand new vehicle I think I’d check on a daily basis if there’s not a new recall on it…. Plus the fact that trucks, even HD’s are a bunch of plastic trucks, the automotive industry is truly going down the drain…. I’ve always been a huge GM enthusiast, but since 10 years my enthusiasm is going down the drain too…. With the new Silverado/Sierra model introduced in 2019, they got to be the ugliest trucks ever produced by GM and any other brand…. And all those plastic parts including part of the front fenders, on a full size truck, really???

  6. When are the recall letters going out for the 6.2 l V8 issue??? Or should we take a chance and drive it until it blows up in the middle of the night out on the road?
