Certain units of the 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and Hummer EV SUV are included in a new GM Service Update containing a fix available for burrs and machining debris in the rear wheel knuckles.
Per Service Update N242473130, the affected units may have debris/machining chips in the rear wheel knuckles. The issue only applies to the 2025 model year and includes both the Pickup and SUV variants of the GMC Hummer EV.
Four new rear brake caliper bracket bolts are required for the repairs. To solve the issue, the service personnel at an authorized EV dealer will inspect and, if necessary, retap the rear brake caliper bracket threads. Whether new brake caliper bolts need to be installed or not, the process should take under two hours to complete.
The exact number of affected units is currently unclear. GM instructs dealership service to apply the available fix to any vehicles still in stock and to affected GMC Hummer EV trucks and SUVs brought in by their owners for other services. The repair is offered free of charge to current owners of the vehicles.
Some changes for the 2025 GMC Hummer EV include the discontinuation of the 2 trim level and the Omega Edition, the subtraction of four paint options, the addition of two new ones, the reintroduction of the Sky Convertible Top (RPO SBD), and a new Dark Essentials Package (PDB). Pricing starts at $98,845 for both the Pickup and SUV, and the SUV configurator and Pickup configurator are both live.
The Hummer EV 2X trim equips a pair of GM drive motors, while the 3X trim is powered by three motors. Despite this difference, both trims of the SUV send power to their motors from the same 20-module battery pack utilizing GM battery technology. The Hummer EV Pickup in the 3X trim uses a 24-module battery, pushing its horsepower rating to 1,000.
For the 2025 model year, the GMC Hummer EV continues to use the GM BT1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.
