Ringbrothers Unveils Fully Custom 1,246HP Buick Grand National At SEMA

Ringbrothers is back in the spotlight at SEMA 2024, this time with a fully customized 1987 Buick Grand National nicknamed “INVADR.” Showing off the iconic squared-off lines of one Buick’s best, plus a boost-crazy V6 powerplant, this one-of-a-kind machine lays down well over 1,200 ponies at the rear wheels. In total, the Wisconsin-based custom auto shop invested nearly 5,000 hours into the build.

Just behind the Sith-esque front end, you’ll find a tuned 3.8L V6 from Duttweiler Performance, which is equipped with twin Precision GEN2 62mm turbochargers. This setup enables the car to generate an astounding 1,246 horsepower and 1,000 pound-feet of torque, all of which is sent to the rear wheels through a Bowler Tremec T-56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission. There’s also a a carbon-fiber driveshaft, custom exhaust, and an advanced cooling system to top it off.

Built on a custom Roadster Shop chassis, INVADR’s suspension setup includes a four-link rear with Penske three-way adjustable shocks, while Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, C6 Corvette ZR1 calipers, and HRE wheels (19-inch front, 20-inch rear) wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires ensure this Buick has what it takes to keep all that power in (relative) control. Also notable is the nitrogen-powered air jack system, which is capable of lifting the car over 15 inches for quick tire changes and maintenance work.

From the outside, INVADR retains the classic lines of the original Buick Grand National but introduces numerous modern enhancements. Custom stainless steel bumpers, a carbon-fiber hood scoop, and carbon side mirrors add a contemporary flair, while a custom BASF Dark Vader Gray paint finish completes the brooding aesthetic. Additional exterior modifications include a carbon-fiber decklid spoiler, re-sculpted fenders, and extended rocker panels.

Inside, Ringbrothers worked with Upholstery Unlimited to craft a fully custom interior that honors the Grand National’s roots. A carbon-fiber steering wheel, Dakota Digital gauges, and a Vintage Air climate control system seamlessly blend vintage aesthetics with modern functionality.

The IVADR 1987 Buick Grand National is one of several Ringbrothers builds debuting at SEMA this year. Stay tuned for more custom rides set to post very soon.

  1. Amazing. I feel like they could have modernized the headlights and taillights, but I’m ok with the originals. The modernized, classc style interior and old school head unit are perfect.
