Refreshed 2025 Kia EV6 Debuts As Chevy Blazer EV Rival

The 2025 Kia EV6 debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show, boasting a compelling mid-cycle refresh. Some of the highlights include tweaked aesthetics, new battery packs, and new tech features. It goes toe-to-toe with the Chevy Blazer EV.

“We are incredibly proud of the success the EV6 has achieved since its launch,” said Kia America COO and Executive VP Steven Center. “The EV6 represents Kia’s forward-thinking approach to electrification, and with this refreshed model, we are excited to build on that success by offering even more style, technology, and features that our customers will love. We can’t wait to see how this next chapter of the EV6 continues to drive excitement and push boundaries in the EV market.”

The updated 2025 Kia EV6’s trim structure is as follows: Light (RWD only), Light Long Range (RWD or e-AWD), Wind (RWD or e-AWD), GT-Line (RWD or e-AWD), and GT (e-AWD). All but the GT will be built at Kia’s plant in West Point, Georgia, alongside the bigger Kia EV9.

The EV9 has a new standard 63 kWh battery pack and an optional 84 kWh battery. The outgoing model had a standard 58 kWh battery exclusively in the Light RWD variant, and every other EV6 used a 77.4 kWh battery. The result is a higher estimated maximum range of up to 319 miles in models with the bigger battery and RWD.

The Light RWD only makes 167 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Most models with the 84 kWh battery make 225 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque with RWD as well as 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque with AWD. However, the Kia EV6 GT is on par with the Blazer EV SS, producing 601 horsepower and 545 pound-feet of torque. That can be temporarily boosted to 641 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque with GT mode activated.

The new interior of the 2025 Kia EV6 has a horizontal design theme highlighted by a curved display housing a 12.3-inch center infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The interior also has what Kia calls Star Map lighting, a D-shaped steering wheel, and an updated center console. Kia also says the car’s dimensions “have been slightly adjusted for improved aesthetics and comfort.”

Pricing will be announced closer to launch in the first half of 2025. If its pricing is similar to the 2024 Kia EV6, it will continue to be priced very close to the Chevy Blazer EV, up to and including the SS model.
