The Government of Canada has announced a new $7 million investment into Project Arrow, touted as Canada’s first fully Canadian-made connected and autonomous EV. Project Arrow previously received $5 million from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) to fund its initial development. If it reaches production, Project Arrow could eventually compete with GM rivals like the Chevy Bolt EV and Chevy Equinox EV.
Led by the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA), Project Arrow integrates components from more than 55 Canadian businesses. The first phase of the project enabled APMA to design both physical and digital prototypes of the vehicle, with the latter serving as a “digital twin” for advanced virtual testing of new technology. Debuting at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Project Arrow has since attracted attention across North America.
Minister Filomena Tassi of FedDev Ontario announced the new round of funding at Myant Corp. in Mississauga, one of the more than 55 Canadian contributing companies. Myant’s contributions include advanced textile computing technology, such as embedded sensors and actuators in the steering wheel. The latest $7 million investment aims to expand Project Arrow and enable APMA to partner with additional companies and academic institutions, with plans to build a fleet of vehicles under Project Arrow 2.0. This phase also aims to cement Canada’s position in the clean air vehicle sector while bolstering the national economy and supply chain.
“The Government of Canada’s support for Project Arrow allowed Canadian suppliers to tell their technology innovation and advanced workforce story around the world,” said President, Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association, Flavio Volpe. “The unprecedented demonstration platform’s expansion, in partnership with FedDev Ontario, will enable the APMA to open doors at global automakers for additional Canadian suppliers to help lead their global ZEV transition.”
Since its inception, Project Arrow has enabled collaborating partners and business to attract $500 million in contracts, bolstered by Project Arrow’s appearance at major automotive and technology events worldwide.

Wow, that is one ugly mode of transportation
That’s an ugly car, looks like an amusement park ride.
Sounds like a great concept, all the way around. Good luck to them.
Theyll need it!
It's a fantastic idea. I just hope they can find an automotive design studio to get on board before they get to the production stage.
$7 million is a "major investment" when this country is squandering billions of my tax dollars on EVs.
I know that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder but this thing looks like a Wuling Mini on steroids with buck teeth.
