Cadillac’s current portfolio is composed of sedans, crossovers, and an SUV, but no two-door coupe. Although two-door coupes remain a niche offering in the U.S., they’re still quite popular among a dedicated portion of the buying public. Not only that, but a low-slung two-door can do wonders for a brand, revitalizing it with a shot of modernity and youthful sportiness, if done right. Interestingly, it looks as though the GM design team is currently working on developing a new Cadillac EV coupe.
In a recent video, The Wall Street Journal highlights the GM Tech Center in Warren, Michigan, taking a tour of the facility while interviewing GM Design Chief Michael Simcoe. During the interview, we see several Cadillac design projects in progress in the background. Tantalizingly, one of these projects appears to be a new Caddy EV coupe.
Although the video does not directly identify it as such, we briefly get a glimpse of what appears to be a clay model of an EV coupe in one of the background shots. The model is out of focus, but the shape is clearly a low-slung coupe, rather than some kind of utility model.
The proportions include a short front overhand and long wheelbase, while the roof falls back at a gentle angle into the rear end. While this profile could still possibly be a sedan, the shape of the A-pillar would seem to suggest that it’s a two-door model, not a four-door. Additionally, the front end design is reminiscent of Cadillac’s EV models, rather than its ICE-based models, in particular around the grille.
Check out the full video right here. The possible Caddy EV coupe makes an appearance around the five-minute, 15-second mark:
Cadillac has been keen on the two-door design studies as of late, releasing several concepts throughout the 2024 calendar year. That includes the Expressive Coupe study posted to social media this past June, as well as the Cadillac Sollei concept unveiled in July and the Opulent Velocity concept unveiled in August. Of course, whether or not any of these ideas actually make it to production remains to be seen.

Cadillac Coupe-yes! EV hell no.
EV Hell yes!!
This electric garbage scowl will most certainly appeal to the limp wrist, brie nibbling, wine sipping, sky is falling, we are all doomed crowd.
If you build it they will come.
Couldn’t sell a 2 door Camaro but they are going to invest $$. In a Cadillac Coupe ? We will see how this goes.
Sure it will look good. There just isn’t a market for 2door cars.
The latest Camaro was mismanaged and gotten smaller which hurt sales. Also, it looked too similar from the prior generation for the reason no one wanted it. But to support your question, the CTS and ATS coupe did not sell well also.
The Cadillac coupe model will be bespoke most likely due to the long wheelbase similar to the CELESTIQ and there is a market for such models like this albeit small.
Another Cadillac ELR failure.
SEEMS BORING
and all the ugly, look alike, 4 cylinder suvs being produced now, arent?
I’d buy it, but I’m sure it will be too expensive for the masses. Bummer.
Most likely, this will be a bespoke model being shared next to the CELESTIQ if ever being built due to its LWB.
I see a lot of interesting models in the video that could be concept or have potential to be greenlighted.
Cool. A 7000lb 2 door ultium garbage can.
Lets hope so, im not a fan of any of the dull, look alike suv boxes on the road or the huge waste of space pickup trucks costing over $100k, that are being manufactured…bring back some style and individuality to vehicles..
