GM unveiled the 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V last week, giving us an eyeful of the new high-performance crossover with two new images showing off a number of eye-catching details. Among these details is what appears to be a matte paint job, lending the design a special look that complements the aggressive detailing. Looking over the photos, we can’t help but wonder – is this Cadillac Lyriq-V painted in Magnus Metal Frost?
For those readers who may be scratching their head, Magnus Metal Frost (color code GBL) is the same matte paint finish that’s included with the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Le Monstre Edition package. Unveiled back in June, the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Le Monstre Edition gives a nod to the Cadillac Le Mans race car that competed in the legendary race back in 1950, and includes the Stormhawk Blue carbon fiber package, Royal Blue brake calipers, decals, a special inscription, a 3D-printed manual transmission shifter medallion, and an exclusive Magnus Metal Frost matte paint finish.
Of course, by the look of it, Magnus Metal Frost may not be exclusive to the CT5-V Blackwing by the time the 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V rolls out. Looking over the photos, it certainly seems as though Magnus Metal Frost paint will be offered for the new high-performance Lyriq-V, which would not only help to underline just how special the Lyriq-V truly is, but would help to tie it together with the rest of the V-Series lineup.
Naturally, the CT5-V Blackwing Le Monstre Edition package is far from the first time that Cadillac has offered a matte paint finish. In fact, the luxury marque has been particularly fond of its “Frost” finishes over the last few years, with a few examples including the Dark Emerald Frost (paint code G7W) for the 2022 CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing, Maverick Noir Frost (paint code GNW) for the 2023 CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing, as well as a range of different paint options for the highly customizable Cadillac Celestiq, and a new matte paint option for the 2025 Cadillac Escalade as well.
As for the specs, the new Cadillac Lyriq-V is expected to produce around 595 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque, similar to the Chevy Blazer EV SS, while also incorporating a lowered suspension setup, although GM has yet to make any of it official. Look for a full reveal early next year.
