Ushering in just a few updates and changes to the premium crossover model, the 2025 Cadillac XT6 gets new, increased pricing along with the addition of GM Super Cruise (RPO code UKL) to the available Platinum Package (RPO code JSE). Here, GM Authority is examining the details of Cadillac XT6 towing capacity for the new model year.
First of all, looking over the engine choices offered on the 2025 Cadillac XT6, the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine developing 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque is standard fare on the lower trims. At higher trim levels, the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine provides 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. The GM nine-speed automatic transmission sends power to the pavement, while front-wheel drive is standard on the Luxury and Premium Luxury trims. All-wheel drive is standard on the Sport trim and optional on the other two trim levels.
Axle ratio is 3.47 for the model or 3.49 with the optional towing package (see below).
Now that we’ve looked at the mechanical capabilities of the 2025 Cadillac XT6, here are the crossover’s towing capacities:

1. Optional Smart Towing Package (RPO code V92). Model Drivetrain Turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY 3.6L V6 LGX Axle Ratio Max Trailer Weight (lbs / kg) Axle Ratio Max Trailer Weight (lbs / kg) Luxury FWD 3.47 1,000 / 454 - - Luxury AWD 3.47 1,000 / 454 - - Premium Luxury FWD - - 3.47 1,000 / 454 Premium Luxury with V921 FWD - - 3.49 4,000 / 1,814 Premium Luxury AWD - - 3.47 1,000 / 454 Premium Luxury with V921 AWD - - 3.49 4,000 / 1,814 Sport AWD - - 3.47 1,000 / 454 Sport with V921 AWD - - 3.49 4,000 / 1,814
These stats clearly show that regardless of the engine or drivetrain equipped, the 2025 XT6 can tow a maximum weight of 1,000 pounds when not fitted with optional towing upgrades. Installation of the Smart Towing Package (RPO code V92) boosts this figure to 4,000 pounds across the board. The package is priced at an additional $650 and is offered on the Premium Luxury and Sport trims, while being unavailable on the entry-level Luxury.
Notably, the towing capacities for the 2025 model year are precisely the same as those provided by the 2024 Cadillac XT6.
More tips and recommendations for towing with the XT6 can be found in the user manual. The General suggests that a new vehicle should not be used for towing during the first 500 miles of driving, which constitute a break-in period. For the first 500 miles of towing, speed should be kept below 50 miles per hour and full-throttle starts should be avoided.
The following features, if present, should also be disabled while towing to ensure best results and avoid damage to the 2025 Cadillac XT6:
- Park Assist
- Reverse Automatic Braking
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Rear Cross Traffic Braking
- Lane Change Alert
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Super Cruise
Pricing for the model starts at $50,590 for the FWD Luxury trim and ranges up to $62,090 for the Sport, while the official configurator is currently live. The GM C1 platform provides the underpinnings for the 2025 Cadillac XT6. Production of the luxury crossover takes place exclusively at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
