Cadillac is expanding globally, with Europe and Australia high on the list of destinations for the luxury marque. Interestingly, General Motors is also planning to launch a range of Cadillac EVs in Brazil, South America’s largest country, per GM Authority coverage published way back in August of 2022. Now, GM Authority has an update on General Motors’ developing plans to bring the Cadillac brand to the Brazilian market.
As GM Authority covered in 2022, General Motors is eyeing South America for an EV expansion. Presently, The General has already announced a few battery-driven models slated for sale in Brazil, including two vehicles from Bow Tie brand, namely the Chevy Blazer EV and the Chevy Equinox EV. The first units of the Chevy Blazer EV arrived in Brazil this past June, while General Motors announced plans to launch the Equinox EV in Brazil just last month.
However, in our original report from 2022, sources indicated that General Motors was considering the sale of new Cadillac models in the Brazilian market, as well. Now, GM Authority has updated intel on the matter.
According to sources familiar with the matter, General Motors is still working on plans to bring the Cadillac brand to Brazil. While The General has yet to announce anything official, GM Authority sources tell us that General Motors is considering the sale of the all-electric Cadillac Escalade IQ and extended-length IQL in Brazil, as well as the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq crossover. What’s more, sources indicate that GM is also considering the sale of the ICE-powered Cadillac Escalade in the South American country.
It’s an interesting development, especially in light of continuing competition from Cadillac’s European rivals. For those who may be unaware, all three of of Caddy’s main German rivals, namely Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi, each have a first-party presence in the Brazilian market, mostly through the sale of C-segment sedans and crossovers with small displacement engines.
Stay tuned for more information, as this is a developing story.

Plotting? Is it a nefarious ordeal?
Strategizing? Planning? Seems like you got the meaning…
They need to plot how to add the diesel back on the Escalade
Funny how GM is trying to sell Cadillacs in markets all over the world but depriving the US of their best models, the new CT6 and XT5. I thought initially it was a China first strategy, but maybe it’s just a US last strategy.
Well, it might make sense both ways.
It’s possible that the Cadillacs coming to Brazil will be imported from China.
