GM electric vehicle (EV) sales jumped 192 percent to 32,095 units in the United States during the third quarter of 2024.
GM EV sales are comprised of the following model lines:
- Cadillac Lyriq
- Chevy Blazer EV
- Chevy Bolt EV (discontinued)
- Chevy Bolt EUV (discontinued)
- Chevy Equinox EV
- Chevy Silverado EV
- GMC Hummer EV Pickup
- GMC Hummer EV SUV
- GMC Sierra EV
- BrightDrop commercial delivery vans
- BrightDrop Zevo 400
- BrightDrop Zevo 600
- GM has announced plans to move these models under the Chevrolet brand
GM now sells eight all-electric model lines, with Chevy Bolt EV line item including the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV, and GMC Hummer EV sales including the Pickup and SUV. Crossovers clearly led the way in sales volume during Q3 2024.

With only its second sales quarter under its belt, the Chevy Equinox EV has already shot to the top of the GM EV sales chart, with deliveries approaching a cool 10K units. Its larger sibling, the Blazer EV, followed with nearly 8K deliveries. The Cadillac Lyriq was a close third with 7,224 units. All three of these models ride on the GM BEV3 platform.
Next up were the GMC Hummer EV Pickup and SUV duo, which together posted 4,305 sales. The Chevy Silverado EV moved 1,995 units and the new GMC Sierra EV recorded 387 deliveries, its first sales quarter. These four models ride on the GM BT1 platform.
The BrightDrop commercial delivery vans moved a combined 246 units during Q3.
Production of the Bolt EV and EUV is officially over, but the next-gen Chevy Bolt EV is on the way, scheduled to arrive in 2025 for the 2026 model year. Consequently, the Bolt family posted just 168 deliveries as the last remaining units continue to sell out.
Overall, GM EV sales grew 171 percent to 70,450 deliveries during the first three quarters of 2024.
Notably, GM is catching up to Ford in EV sales, though both lag behind Hyundai-Kia, and all three fall far short of Tesla.
The General’s portfolio of all-electric models include the $35,000 Chevy Equinox EV, touted as the most-affordable all-electric vehicle available in the U.S. with an estimated range-per-charge greater than 315 miles, all the way up to the $340,000 Cadillac Celestiq ultra-luxury sedan – starting at 10 times the price.
EV plans have changed dramatically this year across the industry, with GM downgrading its near-term production target to 200,000 – 250,000 EVs this year while also announcing that it will reintroduce PHEVs, or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, in North America in 2027 as its own bridge between ICE and EV powertrain offerings as the nationwide EV charging network continues to develop.
Many of The General’s competitors already offer various hybrid options, including FoMoCo.

Comments
GM can sell so many more EV’s if they make two changes on all their EV’s and one change is specific to NON BT1 BEV’s
Shift to NACS ports ASAP on ALL EV’s
Make charging at 250kW bare minimum. The Nox, Optiq, Blazer, Lyriq, and Vistiq do not have small packs so their charging speeds are borderline bad…especially Nox and Optiq
150kW and 200kW is just NOT enough in this current market.
I know of a couple of potential GM customers that are waiting on those two changes.
I cannot say I blame them
90% of charging is at home. Basing purchase decision on the peak charge power is sort of silly, and need to really look at overall charge curves/times. The GM EVs don’t have market leading DCFC charging performance, but they are good enough for most people.
So just a little more than the sales of one discounted model that has been left to rot in the line up? The Malibu sold almost as much as the entire EV line up?
actually.. the Malibu outsold all EV models combined in 2024! hahahaha 193% increase from nothing is still nothing
