A new viral video captures the moment a Chevy Traverse crossover is rear-ended by a semi-truck tanker in a high-speed rear-end collision. The collision results in a cascade of damage as several other vehicles are impacted as well. It’s unclear if those involved were injured, but it’s certainly likely, gauging by the force of the impact.
The short video was captured by a rear-facing camera on an adjacent pickup truck, giving us a clear view of the terrifying collision. The video opens to show a clear, bright day on a two-lane highway. The road behind the pickup truck appears to be mostly clear, with only a little bit of traffic moving in both directions.
In the left-hand side of the frame, we see a black Chevy Traverse crossover slowly rolling down the rightmost lane adjacent to the pickup truck. It looks as though the car ahead of the Chevy is moving slowly as well, suggesting that there might be traffic ahead.
As the video gets underway, we see a tanker semi-truck traveling at high speed in the rightmost lane. It looks as though the driver behind the wheel of the semi doesn’t see the slow-moving traffic, and the massive tanker approaches the Chevy Travers at an alarming speed.
In a flash, we see the semi rear-end the Chevy Traverse, catapulting the crossover forward. Meanwhile, the heavy tanker doesn’t even slow down from the impact. The collision pushes the Chevy crossover into another car ahead of it, while we hear a sickening combination of broken glass, twisting metal, and screeching tires. The collision sprays broken glass across the video frame as the two cars ahead of the tanker collide into the side the pickup truck with the camera, causing the pickup to momentarily pitch to the side.
It’s a very scary moment, and likely resulted in some serious injuries. Suffice to say, always keep an eye on your mirrors.

That dude should not ever have a driving job again. And the transport company should not exist anymore either. I can just imagine all the lawsuits. A free (to the driver hit) new Traverse is on the way, for sure.
I hope he survived it.
I had a guy towing a boat with a Dakota truck. It was too big.
We were stopped in traffic on the interstate and I could see him coming and wheel hopping due to too much Boat.
I pulled down in the median as others looked at me wondering what I was doing.
The truck stopped a boy 2 feet short of the car that was ahead of me.
If he had hit us he may have wiped out ten cars.
He let me back in after he wiped his underwear out.
2M6: I’d say that’s some great pro-active driving you did. Not many drivers are paying enough attention to do what you did.
I’m always watching not just in front of me, but behind me as well. I’m thinking about my escape path and why it’s not good to put your front bumper up to the vehicle in front of you, leaving space to get out of the way.
This is why truck drivers need to be replaced by robots.
Robots pay attention 24/7/365, they don’t get high, fatigued, drunk, enraged, distracted, know how to follow the laws of the road all the time.
robots also short circuit, malfunction, likely need updating (which usually always causes something else to fail in the process) among a host of other issues.
AI trucks can’t handle insurance scams, brake checkers, and road ragers.
So says someone who’s probably never driven anything bigger than a Toyota Yaris.
US Driver’s License ?
… asking for a friend.
Another “Professional Driver”…ah wait maybe ” Not So Professional”. As per a previous comment, I always try to stop so I can see the rear tires of the vehicle in front of me meet the pavement, that leaves enough room for an escape if necessary.

Any help out there?
yea, STOP using edge and get a real browser.
The semi driver didn’t even apply the brakes until after he hit the SUV. Hope you give the video to the SUVs attorney.
