Chevy Silverado High Country Drops Bronze Accents

The Chevy Silverado High Country has long set itself apart as the most luxurious trim within the Silverado lineup, showcasing premium features and exclusive styling details. Among those distinctive design elements were the bronze “Godric” grille inserts, which added a unique touch to the High Country’s front end. However, GM has quietly removed this feature, starting with the 2023 model year.

For those unfamiliar, the bronze coloring in the Chevy Silverado High Country grille was a subtle but effective detail. Introduced with the launch of the 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 High Country, the bronze detailing is positioned in the corners of the horizontal grille bars, providing a warm, upscale accent to the silver and chrome seen elsewhere on the pickup, while also providing a touch of exclusivity.

When Chevy refreshed the Silverado for the 2022.5 model year, the bronze accents became even more prominent, further enhancing the grille’s bold horizontal lines, as well as the High Country’s premium positioning.

However, with the launch of the 2023 model year, Chevrolet has opted to quietly retire the bronze Godric grille accents. GM Authority recently spoke with Chevy spokesperson Sean Szymkowski, who confirmed that the bronze Godric inserts are indeed no longer part of the Chevy Silverado High Country’s exterior styling. Rather, the High Country now shows a more uniform silver and chrome grille finish.

While the removal of the bronze accents brings a cleaner, more consistent look to the High Country, it may not appeal to everyone, and for some Chevy Silverado enthusiasts, the bronze inserts are likely missed. But what do you think, dear reader? Do you prefer the new all-silver look, or do you miss the bronze Godric grille accents seen prior to the 2023 model year? 1. I thought it looked too fake, but when we were shopping for a Suburban High Country, we noticed that the color was a nice accent in person.

  2. I had a black 2019 High Country 6.2L 10 Speed. Loved the bronze accents on the black truck! I will say that I had to have the whole grill replaced under warranty, because the bronze accents were peeling off on it. I guessing GM had more of these issues, and maybe that’s why they are going away with it.

I’ve also noticed a TON of new black ultimate denali grills peeling, because of road rash whenever I see one in parking lots. Wonder how long those grills will be offered as well??

GM hardly offers chrome wheels anymore because of warranty issues. Look at all the Cadillacs and Denali’s from 2002 to 2017ish. They always had chrome wheels. My buddy had Cadillac’s for 10 straight years, then, about 2018 they started going away from chrome! Now it’s all brushed aluminum.

    1. Maybe GM should have used a more appropriate material for the accent, because after all, the buyers were paying a bloated price for this package anyway!

  4. Never seen this option before but looks a bit strange.

  5. I have an all blacked out Silverado and it is amazing how many compliments I receive on the truck. I liked the bronze accents but if they were becoming a warranty issue, I understand Chevrolet canceling them but they were a nice touch. Side note, the 6.2L engine rocks.
