Chevy Corvette Convertible Wins Strategic Vision 2024 Total Quality Award

Consulting and advisory firm Strategic Vision has released its automotive 2024 Total Quality Awards, and GM had a strong performance on the list this year. The winner in the Premium Convertible/Roadster category was none other than the Chevy Corvette convertible, beating out formidable rivals from the likes of Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus.

The study notes the industry-wide price increases and noted that they’re prompting new vehicle buyers to ask, “Do I really love this vehicle at the given price? Is the quality of the vehicle even adequate considering expectations and price?”

Those questions, apparently, received positive answers from Corvette convertible buyers. Every car on this list gets a Total Quality Index (TQI) score, and the drop-top Corvette’s score was 683. That’s the third-highest score on the whole list, beaten only by the Genesis G90 and Audi A7/S7/RS7, both earning scores over 700. Strategic Vision says that score is “based on responses from over 77,000 new vehicle buyers during their first 90 days of ownership, combining both emotional and rational evaluations of quality and vehicle performance.”

In other words, new Corvette convertible owners are very happy with their premium, mid-engined sports cars. Other GM vehicles that earned spots on the list include the Buick Envista, the Chevy Tahoe, and the GMC Sierra 1500, which “impressed customers with its blend of power and versatility.”

The award doesn’t specify a particular variant of the Chevy Corvette, so it’s likely a combination of all three available in 2024: Stingray, E-Ray, and Z06. All of the above are available as either a coupe or a convertible.

Motivation is supplied to the Stingray by the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine developing 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque in standard form, and the Z06 gets the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine cranking out 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, while the E-Ray uses the LT2 engine and a front-mounted electric motor to generate 655 horsepower.

The new, hard-charging C8 Corvette ZR1 will roll off the assembly line with the twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8 LT7 engine under the hood, and we have a feeling owners will be satisfied with the convertible variant of that one, too. The GM Y2 platform underpins all Vette variants, with production taking place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

  1. Buick Envista? Are you kidding me? Even the dealer where we bought our Encore GX last week said that its build quality is suspect (and I bet the Trax is even more suspect). Another meaningless study/award.

    1. I hope the quality is decent, as they reported. The Envista seems to be selling really well (probably because they’re affordable).

    2. I think since the Evista is the hot (new) a Buick model then used a dealer trick talk to convince you to buy what’s not selling as fast encore gx (old model) and it worked.
