Chevy Corvette C8 customers interested in upgrading their engine bay with a splash of color and style can do so with these new Edge Red hatch strut braces. The new hatch strut braces are a Genuine Corvette Accessory, and should do well to make your C8 stand out at the local car meet. Pricing, however isn’t cheap.
As it turns out, GM Authority first wrote about these unique hatch strut braces several years ago. Back in 2021, we caught a prototype version of the strut braces mounted on a C8 Corvette Stingray at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas, and after reaching out to a Chevy spokesperson, we discovered that the braces were a concept part under consideration for production.
Now, these braces are offered as an official GM accessory. Dubbed “Rear Hatch Strut Braces in Edge Red with Crossed Flags Logo,” the braces are tagged with part number 85599584 or RPO code SLK, and are priced at $1,995 for the pair. The pieces are a direct replacement of the original production piece, the latter of which are a simple black strut piece.
While certainly not cheap, the new strut braces still look pretty cool, and should set off the engine bay with a custom look. The pieces were designed and engineered specifically for the C8 Corvette coupe, but not the convertible, and include a one-piece design with the iconic Crossed Flags logo set in the middle. The braces are a complex mesh of intersection metal pieces, and are constructed from aluminum.
Each kit includes two strut braces, as well as the installation hardware required to install them. Not only that, but the Edge Red finish matches the red color offered for various other C8 Corvette components, such as the vehicle emblems, brake calipers, and engine cover.
The braces also include a warranty, which is the greater of either the balance of the vehicle’s bumper-to-bumper warranty, or 12 months / 12,000 miles.
Would you rock these upgraded strut braces on your C8?
Expected impact of roughly 9 cents on Q2 earnings per share.
Plus, no payments for 90 days on heavy-duty pickup truck.
But still in the red.
Third-gen pickups have a shot at taking the top spot.

Maybe I'm cheap but two grand for strut braces/mounts? Are you kidding me? No, I wouldn't 'rock my C8' by spending two grand on those. I'd take my current ones off and have them painted edge red first and I can get that done for a couple hundred bucks.
Go to your local chain autoparts store and buy a spray can of red brake caliper paint and paint the braces . No crossed flags , but you saved 2 grand and have red braces
They are plain ugly to me.
Somewhere along the line we seem to have forgotten the purpose of a perfomance car....KISS...keep it simple stupid.
