Morimoto is now offering a sleek, C8-style LED taillight upgrade for the C7 Corvette, designed to bring a contemporary aesthetic to models produced between the 2014 and 2019 model year. The new aftermarket taillights adopt a similar checkmark design as the latest mid-engine C8, all while bolting into the tail of the C7 without any major modifications. The new taillights are also available in multiple lens colors, including Smoked and Red.
In a recently released video, Morimoto showcases the new C8 Corvette-inspired taillights, while also demonstrating the installation process and unique features. The taillights are a direct bolt-on, plug-and-play solution, mounting in the factory location using the OEM mounting points, allowing most users to complete the installation in under two hours. Included in the package are new gloss black trim pieces to complement the taillight housing, adding to the sleek appearance.
In the video, viewers are walked through each step of the installation, beginning with the removal of the rear hatch weather stripping, splash guards, and bumper cover. This allows easy access to the taillight bezels, which can then be disconnected to install the new assemblies.
Morimoto’s design also includes advanced features such as customizable turn signal modes, offering either a sequential or fade-off effect for a personalized look. The setup is made relatively simple thanks to the included mode selector wiring.
The taillights integrate C8-style light pipes that serve as low-intensity parking lights and high-intensity brake lights, while the powerful LED reverse lights provide bright illumination while backing up. Morimoto also offers an optional Backup Boost System, which enhances visibility when reversing with an extra 2700 lumens of light. The booster mounts on top of the Corvette’s license plate frame.
Morimoto backs its new taillights with a five-year warranty. Pricing is set at $595 for the pair, per the Morimoto website. The company also offers a C8-style headlight upgrade among other lighting add-ons for the C7 Corvette.

Nothing better looking than a C7. Don’t mess it up with something to make it ugly like a C8
The OEM C7 lights fit the shape of the C7 light surrounds. The C8 taillights fit the C8. They don’t work well with the C7. Sorry, but this is a fail.
