The GM Authority Take
Buick Envision sales were so healthy during Q3 2024 that they propelled the model to second place in its segment during Q3 2024. We attribute this to interest in the model, driven by the 2024 model year refresh, along with improved inventory. When combined, these two factors can deliver quite impressive results.
Even better news is that combining sales with the Cadillac XT4 put GM within spitting distance of of first place overall to nearly unseat the perennially best-selling Lexus NX. Good news, indeed.
About Buick Envision
This past spring, GM officially unveiled the refreshed 2024 Buick Envision, which features an updated exterior, a new interior, a 30-inch diagonal infotainment screen, and more standard safety features.
The 2024 Buick Envision lineup now includes Preferred, Sport Touring (ST), and Avenir trim levels. A first for the nameplate, ST is a new standalone trim that replaces the mid-tier Essence trim and the Sport Touring Package previously offered on Preferred and Essence trims. However, the ST trim does not offer any performance upgrades.
While the 2024 Envision won’t offer Super Cruise after all due to unspecified constraints, the Technology Package I will now be included as standard on all 2024 Envision trim levels. This package features the Bose Premium nine-speaker audio system and Head-Up Display. Additionally, the 2024 Envision does offer many new standard safety features.
The 2024 Envision loses two paint colors, Rich Garnet Metallic and Sapphire Metallic, which are replaced by Calypso Blue Metallic and Smokey Amethyst Metallic. Check out the 2024 Envision paint and interior colors, along with three wheels available, each tied to a respective trim level.
For the first time, the 2024 Buick Envision offers standard all-wheel drive in the U.S. Specifically, it’s a twin-clutch AWD system. The turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine will remain the sole powertrain available in the 2024 Envision.
The 2025 Buick Envision arrives with few minor changes as the 2024 model was in production for a relatively short amount of time.
Here are the 2025 Envision paint colors, the interior colorways, along available wheels.

Comments
I love these types of articles about how these SUV’s are selling so well, because it gives me the opportunity to point out just how alive and well sedan sales really are.
Point: This article is noting the positive sales of the Envision SUV. That isn’t a bad thing. However, I often see articles and comments about just how bad sedan sales are. You know, how they are dead and nobody wants one. Right?
So in Q3 of this year, the Envision takes second place in the hottest segment (supposedly) with a whopping 12,565 sales. Now contrast that to the Malibu which sold double that at 24,424. So lets kill the Malibu and throw Buick a party for having a fraction of the sales they used to have. Got it.
The Malibu’s numbers are inflated/bolstered by rental fleet sales. People were not lining up to buy them.
Over a year ago it was 47% fleet. Since then it’s likely much higher since they’ve severely limited colors, features and model availability. A sure sign it’s basically approaching a fleet only product.
Still based on the over 20 year old Opel designed Epsilon platform (but updated to Epsilon 2 spec) sometimes platforms just need to be put to bed when they can no longer be scabbed together enough to meet newer regulations or be competitive from a ride, handling or NVH perspective.
Yea those who keep screaming about the Malibu getting the axe…I truly don’t get why. Okay sure it was a sedan. But, there were (and still are) far better options for the money. Fleet is what kept the Malibu going. Nobody walked into car dealerships saying “oh I cannot wait to trade my Camry in for a Malibu”…nobody.
jungle and others claiming that Malibu sales are basically fleet now:
Please post confirmation to your source. Last time I read months ago, the entire GM fleet sales were down and retail were up. Malibu very much so.
Plus, while you are doing that, go ahead and post how many of the 12,565 Envision sales were fleet.
I work for an auto carrier. I see where the Malibu’s go firsthand. Plus, I don’t think it’s very hard to see the lack of Malibu’s on the road around you. None of the Buick’s we handle are going to rental fleets and especially not the new Envision.
This article is discussing the luxury compact SUV segment. It is far from the “hottest segment”. RAV4 and CR-V sold 100k units each in Q3. The Chevy Trax sold 60k units.
Too bad its made in Shanghai, China by the SAIC-GM joint venture.
That’s likely to end real fast now.
One significant update made on the Envision SUV is that so much is standard now, from adaptive cruise control to the HD Surround vision. Just add the Comfort & Convenience package & the Panoramic Moonroof to the base model and you have a nicely equipped vehicle.
Which is exactly why I bought a 2024. Perfect size for me coming from a 2015 GMC Terrain. Had everything I wanted in my next car and then some at a price that was competitive and allowed me to stay within the GM family. Was hesitant on the turbo 4, but it’s been impressive and more enjoyable than I imagined coming from the V6 I have in the Terrain.
I’d rather have a Malibu. I’d really, really rather have an Impala.
