Bespoke 1972 K5 Chevy Blazer Boasts Over 3,700 Hours Of Upgrades At SEMA

Ringbrothers is on the scene at SEMA 2024 with several impressive builds, including a 1987 Buick Grand National it dubbed “INVADR”, as we just covered. Sitting alongside the menacing two-door Buick is this – a fully bespoke 1972 K5 Chevy Blazer, nicknamed “TUKA.” Ringbrothers poured over 3,700 hours of labor into its creation, carefully tweaking the classic SUV to handle everything from city streets to rugged trails.

Starting with the exterior, Ringbrothers raised the tailgate and side panels by two inches, creating a smoother line with the door height. The hand-built, one-off fiberglass top integrates a panoramic sunroof sourced from a modern Blazer, while the rear window is adapted from a Jeep Wrangler, blending classic and contemporary elements. The Chevy Blazer body panels are finished in BASF Glasurit Waterborne paint called Galactic Black, while custom 18-inch HRE wheels in a unique bronze finish roll in the corners. Functional touches like custom tow hooks and skid plates add to the off-road-ready feel.

Under the hood, TUKA is powered by a 6.2L LS3 V8 engine from GM Performance, producing 525 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque. The V8 is paired with a Bowler Tru-Street 4L60E automatic transmission and NP208 transfer case, ensuring reliable power delivery both on and off the road. For added capability, Ringbrothers employed chassis components from a Toyota Tacoma, including an independent front suspension setup with Total Chaos control arms and King shocks.

Inside, this K5 Chevy Blazer rocks a mix of luxury and durability. Designed by Sean Smith and pieced together by Gabe’s Custom Interiors, the cabin includes Dakota Digital instrumentation, 3D-printed switchgear, and a carbon fiber steering wheel. Modern conveniences like a high-end sound system and finely crafted upholstery elevate the cabin, while billet-machined controls speak to the attention to detail.

“Almost every piece of this Blazer is custom,” says Ringbrothers co-founder Mike Ring. “We wanted to leave no stone unturned in creating something wholly unique, designed to embrace the open road and the unbeaten path. This truck is built for driving in style and with modern comfort.”

  1. Amazing build. I don’t think anyone else compares to the detail Ring Brothers puts into these. If I ever win the lottery I know where my first half million is going.
