A third-generation Chevy Camaro with faded paint is a dime a dozen. However, there’s one up for sale on eBay right now that’s more special than it appears. This 1986 Chevy Camaro Z28 IROC-Z in San Mateo, California is all-original, only has 3,416 miles on the odometer, and hasn’t been registered since 1992.
This Camaro has the 5.0L V8 that powered every 1986 Chevy Camaro Z28 IROC-Z, and it has the optional Tuned Port Injection (TPI) system. 1986 was a sad year for the IROC-Z since its V8 was detuned to 190 horsepower. Nonetheless, it was an impressive performance car for the time thanks to its enhanced suspension tuning, sport-tuned shocks, and wider tires. This one is equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The interior appears to be in pretty clean condition, considering the age of the car. However, the paint is a little rough, showing what the seller generously calls a “patina.” Also, the rear windshield wiper appears to be inoperable.
The sale includes thorough documentation, including the original build sheet, the California registration issued in 1986, the owner’s manual, the warranty card, the maintenance schedule, and more. The next owner will also get two new ACDelco shocks, a paint touch-up kit, and a “Z28” key chain.
The photo gallery pretty well confirms the seller’s claim that the car is all-original. No modifications are visible among the exterior, interior, or engine bay photos unless you count the dash mat. It’s a Camaro Z28 IROC-Z that’s essentially sat untouched since the early 1990s. It’s a rare opportunity to own a low-mile example of this 1980s icon that can be kept in original condition, restored with some fresh paint, or restomodded into a more modern sports car.
This listing expires on December 13th, 2024. It has a Buy It Now asking price of $15,500 or best offer, the seller suggests calling him if interested in the car. Since we’ve been seeing clean, low-mile Chevy Camaro Z28 IROC-Z examples selling for over $50,000, it might be your last chance to get one with such a low odometer reading for this cheap.

Love the IROCs!
What on earth happened to this? Short of a barn find, you never see such low-mileage vehicles that look this bad and not “stored” in such a structure. Weird.
Third gens are great! They just need an LS motor, T56, C5 brakes, tubular a arms, new torque arm, panhard bar, sway bars, springs, wheels, tires, and shocks/struts.
What a laughable POS the day it rolled off the assembly line. Much less now 🤣🤣🤣🤣
In sorry but these cars are crap. I’ve had a couple of them in past. Cheap materials and crappy assembly.
The rear wiper isn’t inop…it’s one of them new trunk wipers ! 😊
