Debuted just a few weeks ago, the 2026Â Cadillac Vistiq introduces a battery-electric three-row crossover to the marque’s expanding EV lineup. One of the models that may replace Cadillac’s ICE crossover, the Vistiq is loaded with tech and luxury features, with its ultramodern two-spoke steering wheel examined in detail recently.
Now, this GM Authority Feature Spotlight is digging into more details about the 2026 Cadillac Vistiq soft-close doors, a feature it shares with other cutting-edge premium models.
The soft-close doors featured on the refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade and the new 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ electric sport-utility also appear on the 2026 Cadillac Vistiq. Soft-close doors enable gently closing the door most of the way, bringing it over the secondary latch position and leaving it slightly ajar.
A smart induction electric motor then takes over and pulls the door firmly shut over the last 8 millimeters of travel to the primary latch position. The closing only generates a whisper-soft 40 decibels of sound, eliminating hard door slams as long as passengers only pull the door to the secondary position. The system detects fingers in the way and stops to prevent pinching or crushing.
Soft-close doors give the 2026 Cadillac Vistiq more of a premium luxury feel. They can also be very practical for closing doors late at night, when sleeping passengers are present, and similar situations. The soft-close door system is equipped as standard on all four trim levels of the Vistiq, including the Luxury, Sport, Premium Luxury and Platinum trims. Notably, however, there is no power assist to help open the doors on the Vistiq, a feature found on the Escalade and Escalade IQ.
For motivation, the Cadillac Visitiq is fitted out with a dual-motor powertrain developing 615 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Pricing begins at a starting MSRP of $78,790 for the entry-level Luxury trim, which boasts the GMÂ Super Cruise driver assist system, heated, ventilated, massaging, and 18-way adjustable front seats, a panoramic sunroof, 21-inch wheels, and a cornucopia of other features.
Start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 Vistiq is currently scheduled for the first months of 2025 and will take place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

Oh good grief. EVERYBODY’S GOING TO FORGET AND SLAM THE DOORS ANYWAY.
Whatever.
Somebody screwed up and put the tailgate latch on a door so they just said let’s go with it.
Pricing begins at a starting MSRP of $78,790 for the entry-level Luxury trim. This replacement for the XT6 is $28,200 more than the entry level 2025 XT6. A huge jump that won’t translate into sales. Cadillac needs to re-think their models and pricing. All electric is not the way to go but I am beginning to think it is too late for them to change.
The Vistiq is actually a luxury vehicle though. As much as the XT6 tries, it is a premium vehicle to its very core.
It’s based on the Equinox EV. Nice try though.
It’s not. The Optiq is. This is a size class larger than the Lyriq/Blazer EV
Why? The Lyriq is already the second best selling Caddy. For over a quarter century they have had no success differentiating themselves relative to the Germans. Now they finally have a model that is vastly outselling every German in their class.
I have been a Cadillac buyer for a couple of decades, but I may not be much longer! I am only interested in V8 or V6 ICE vehicles!! It appears the Cadillac ICE vehicles are left to languish without revamping or upgrades. I would like to see all of the Cadillac EV models also offered with the choice of V8 or V6 ICE. Otherwise sadly I will not be a Cadillac customer in a couple of years…!!!
I’m old enough to remember when a good rattle-free solid thunk was the sign of a well-built luxury car. You were proud of it.
