The 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 introduces a few updates and changes to the Bow Tie’s popular workhorse truck, including the retirement of four exterior paint colors from the palette and the addition of two new colors, minor alterations to 10-speed automatic transmission availability, and removal of two packages.
Now, GM Authority can report, the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 now offers a new optional package, the LPO or dealer-installed Off-Road Appearance Package (RPO code PDI), adding several rugged cross-country ready features to the pickup model.
The Off-Road Appearance Package for the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 will include the following content (with RPO codes in parenthesis):
- Off-Road Recovery Kit (LPO, S1H)
- Sport bar (LPO, SBY)
- Off-Road High Clearance Steps (LPO, VXW)
GM has not yet announced pricing for the package, but availability is confirmed as being offered on the Custom Trail Boss, the LT Trail Boss and the ZR2 trim levels. It will be offered in conjunction only with the Crew Cab Short Bed configuration on the Custom Trail and LT Trail Boss; notably, the ZR2 trim is available only with the Crew Cab Short Bed body style.
Limitations imposed by choosing the Off-Road Appearance Package include that it can’t be combined with the following list of options:
- Assist step and truck bed cover Value Package II (LPO, PDR)
- Assist step and truck bed cover Value Package III (LPO, PDE)
- Truck bed cover (LPO, VPB)
- Tri-fold soft truck bed cover (LPO, 5JY)
- Hard-folding truck bed cover (LPO, VOZ)
- Any other assist steps
Several of its component elements can also be ordered as standalone options separate from the package. These include the Sport Bar, priced at $1,295, and the Off-Road Clearance Steps priced at $1,195.
Pricing for the 2025 Chevy Silverado starts at a base MSRP of $38,995 for the WT Regular Cab Standard Bed 2WD and rises to $78,590 for the ZR2 Bison Crew Cab Short Bed 4WD 6.2L V8. Six of the ten trim levels get price increases of $100 to $800 for 2025. The online configurator is live and ready to try out builds.
The 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 continues to offer four powerplants for motivation, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine. Power reaches the RWD or 4WD propulsion via GM eight-speed automatic for the base L3B engine or the GM 10-speed automatic transmission for other engines.
The GM T1 platform continues to underpin all variants of the Bow Tie pickup. Production of the model is carried out at three facilities, including the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada, and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.
Comments
They could introduce this in the LT, Custom and WT….let us say, a base package below the Z71 and price it at around 35k…..
But the manufacturer will not allow it.
LOL they were not priced that cheap 10 years ago….maybe 20 years ago
20 years ago my dad got an LT Z71 with the 5.3 for 25K. Now he bought an 09 in the aftermath of the 08 bailout and incentives were high, but that wasn’t even 20 years ago. That was 16. 10 years ago the base MSRP was just over 30, and after incentives, a WT with the 4.3 could be purchased for under 30. I agree 100% what would be nice is a custom trim, with an off road appearance package consisting of the TB front bumper and mud guards and a medium grit tire, packaged with the 2.7 and single speed Tcase (the 2.7 8speed with no low range actually matches the ground torque as my dad’s 4 speed 5.3 in 4wLo) and offer it for 35K. That would be a steal, and wouldn’t tank their EPA credits as it wouldn’t be lifted. They could still post a good profit and put Ram offically out of buisness.
Very important key word here is “Appearance”.
If it is an appearance package, then they can as well add it to the Custom or the LT. But unfortunately, the manufacturer will not make it cheap……, nor will do it.
1 can prob find cheaper 3rd party versions of all this “fluff” GM is offering.
Am not one to waste money on accessories but I must admit that Tubular Sport Bar looks really cool.
