2025 Acura ADX Debuts As Cadillac XT4 Rival

A small and affordable Acura crossover slotted below the RDX was rumored for years and confirmed in April 2024. The 2025 Acura ADX subcompact luxury crossover was finally fully unveiled on Thursday, showing a new entry-level into the Acura crossover lineup, which went from two to four offerings since the 2024 model year. The other is the GM-built Acura ZDX EV.

The closest GM rival to the all-new Acura ADX is the Cadillac XT4, which was just confirmed for discontinuation. The first model year for the ADX will also be the last for the XT4, so they won’t be competitors for very long.

“The all-new Acura ADX is an exciting new gateway model for the Acura brand, expanding our performance SUV lineup to four exceptional models in the most popular segments,” Acura National Sales assistant vice president said. “ADX will hit the heart of the premium compact SUV segment, which has grown significantly over the past few years.”

Power for the Acura ADX comes from Honda’s turbocharged 1.5L I4 L15BE, similar to the motor in the Honda Civic Si and Acura Integra. However, the sole engine option in the ADX is detuned to 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque and comes exclusively with a CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard; all-wheel drive is optional. One could think of the Acura ADX as a crossover version of the Integra.

A few highlights of the Acura ADX include a 10.2-inch Acura Precision Cockpit, a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and upscale options like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a Bang & Olufsen 15-speaker audio system.

Even though the Cadillac XT4 will soon cease availability in North America, it’s worth comparing it to its newest rival. The Acura ADX is similar in size but about four inches longer than the XT4. The XT4 has a bigger, gutsier engine than the ADX; the turbo 2.0L I4 LSY produces 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, but it requires premium gas, and the ADX doesn’t.

The 2025 Acura ADX will start “in the mid-$30,000s,” while the 2025 Cadillac XT4 begins at $41,990. The ADX will arrive in dealers in early 2025, right around the time the XT4 ceases U.S. production.

  1. It’ll have to hustle if it’s gonna compete with the XT4. #timesup

  2. An Acura with a CVT? What’s the point?

  3. Not even in the same class!

  4. Are we forgetting about the Buick Envision? Same LSY as in the XT4 but with 228hp which does NOT require premium fuel. Envision has all the features noted in the ADX, plus AWD standard and a true 9-speed transmission instead of the CVT.
It also starts in the mid $30’s. And the ST trim is plenty sporty to go along with the entry level luxury of the interior.

  5. Envision is made in china if it matters which I think it does in this climate.

    1. I’d shun the Envision because of this IF the new Equinox/Terrain weren’t the turds that they are.

  6. They really needed to put a 2.0 turbo in this with a normal auto transmission and they would have had gold.
The cvt and low power prevent this from being an option got many. I’m guessing this is just an acura version of an HRV

Who would pay these prices for a basically a Honda H-RV
And the XT4 is discontinued correct?

  8. Who carries if another company is building a car to rival the Cadilac XT4, you have already said Cadillac would not build the XT4 next year.

  9. Like its other models, Honda finds it necessary to size those in one class a class above. This is sized like a compact CUV but is slotted in the class below, like the HR-V. I just don’t get it, Honda. Why the fetish for big? Civic, Accord, CR-V (almost) and the list goes on.
