We’re Driving The 2025 Chevy Tahoe And Suburban This Week: What Do You Want To Know?

GM refreshed the Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban full-size SUVs for the 2025 model year, unveiling a long list of updates and changes. Now, GM Authority is about to climb behind the wheel of the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and 2025 Chevy Suburban to provide you with a firsthand account of what it’s like to drive these refreshed SUVs. Which leads us to ask – what do you want to know?

The front end of the 2025 Chevy Tahoe.

The 2025 Chevy Tahoe and 2025 Chevy Suburban lineup includes six trim levels, listed from entry-level to range-topper as LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. Each trim has its own assortment of styling features and unique design characteristics. While we’ll try to get some firsthand experience with as many of the trims as possible, it’s unlikely we’ll have time to drive all six, so let us know which trims we should prioritize.

Compared to the pre-refresh 2024 model year, the new 2025 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban present an updated fascia design complete with C-shaped lighting signatures and thin upper lighting elements, while the primary forward illumination provided by front-facing lights mounted lower in the fascia. The new look takes after Chevy’s truck models, while the rear lighting design was updated as well. Wheel sizing ranges up to 24 inches in diameter, while the paint options list was expanded to include new hues like Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Cypress Gray.

Inside the cabin, these SUVs are equipped with the latest infotainment spec, including a 17.7-inch diagonal infotainment screen as standard, matched with an 11-inch diagonal driver information center. There’s also new trailering feature, such as an integrated camera system with a variety of views on offer. The GM Super Cruise system is expected to be available at some point after the initial vehicle launch.

As for the engine options, the new 3.0L I6 LZ0 joins the lineup as a replacement for the outgoing LM2. The naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 and naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 are once again offered as gasoline options.

Further changes were made to the suspension and handling, with Air Ride Adaptive suspension and Magnetic Ride Control suspension on offer. To note, driving impressions are under embargo until October 16th, so you’ll have to wait until then for those.

The GM T1 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

So then, with that all covered, we have to ask – what do you want to know about the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and 2025 Chevy Suburban? Post all your burning questions in the comments, and as always, stay tuned for the answers straight from GM Authority.

  1. Can you watch movies in the front screen?

    1. God no, there is a backseat for that. Single stupidest thing some people have tried to do to their cars, make it to watch tv/movies in the front seat. Part of the reason I stopped riding motorcycles is people like that.

      1. At least GMC/Chevrolet are NOT as stupid as JEEP in this aspect (aside from Cadillac…).

  9. Since the strikingly poor results from the recent crash testing of the 2023 Tahoe by IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) has GM done anything to improve crash safety. It was shocking to see the injuries that can be sustained by not only the front seat passengers but also the head, neck and chest injuries to the rear seat passengers!

  15. When will the build and price be available and when can I place an order with my dealer?

    1. Same question.

    2. Call your dealer. We test drove a 24 a few weeks ago and they had the ordering sheet and 3 slots available. 1 was already filled so they were trying to get us to get in then. Odd restrictions though, they were told no big sunroof on some of the premium builds for now.

  18. What I want to know is considering the start of production date was yesterday, 10/6 (Yes, I know, the Arlington plant is supposedly closed awaiting parts from the hurricane stricken states) WHY do the websites STILL not allow us to build and/or configure the new full-size GM SUV’s? I’ve consulted a friend/salesman at a Cadillac / Chevy dealer & another at a GMC dealer, and both have NO idea why.

  19. Why did they opt to discontinue offering Super Cruise with the Diesel engine? Feels like a lost opportunity especially since you can get that combo on the GMC Sierra…

  20. 2025 Suburban-
    * Impressions of 3L- LZO Duramax installations and performance.
    * Are their any upgrades available regarding suspension?
    * Is the Wheelbase and overall length the same as the GMC Denali version.

    Reply
    1. I love the LZ0 Duramax in the Tahoe and Suburban. The added power is noticeable and it also sounds deeper than the LM2.

They updated the rear suspension on some trims:
      https://gmauthority.com/blog/2024/10/refreshed-2025-chevy-tahoe-suburban-get-suspension-improvements/

Yup, Suburban and Yukon XL/Denali share the longer wheelbase and Tahoe-Yukon/Denali share the shorter one. The length is essentially the same between these, differently slightly different fascia/bumper treatments.

      Thanks for the questions!

  21. Do they have the camera system installed that captures accidents and things like they talked about?

  22. The LS needs a power liftgate. Will that ever become standard or as a stand alone option. Buyers of the LS really want that option.

  23. I just sold my 2016 Tahoe and am waiting to order a 2025 as soon as ordering opens up. I want to know if two things have been addressed: has the rear camera lens been protected from rain/road debris? If it’s wet out, the rear camera shows up as one big raindrop and you can’t see anything while backing up. Also, I pretty much had to burn sage and shake chicken bones to get the rear hatch to open. Drivers side door open/key fob button pushing/yanking/swearing seemed to only work 50% of the time. The rest of the time I would just give up.

  24. Have a 2023 Diesel Tahoe, Love it and the fuel economy. Did they add an indentation in the Sun visor or the Headliner. It is hard to lower the visor because you can’t get a hold of it on our 2023.

  29. Is the rear entertainment system actually worth it in the 2025, as in having apps available like a smart tv or tablet? I have a 2021 and the system is only truly useful it if you hook up a streaming stick, which can be easily kicked off or broken.

    Reply
    1. Good question. I guess it depends on what you’re after – a clean OEM solution or if using a tablets is more important.

The Rear Seat Entertainment system is alright, but I would personally skip it and use a tablet. A good rear seat screen mount for the hands-free part should finish the job, plus a cable to charge whatever is in the mount.

  30. Thought I saw on the order guide that when selecting the diesel engine it deletes Supercruise. Can you confirm if this is the case (or is it just deleted because that engine choice is not available until later)

    1. Jordan – yes, this is actually the case. The diesel is no longer available with Super Cruise.
