This Silverado HD Trim Now Turning The Fastest

The fastest-turning trim for the capable Chevy Silverado HD has varied in recent years. Last May, we reported that the fastest-turning trims for the full-size pickup were Custom and LT. Later in September of that year, we reported that the Custom and High Country trims were the fastest to get snatched up from dealer lots.

Now, in October 2024, GM Authority learned from sources familiar with the matter that the off-road-ready ZR2 is the fastest-turning trim of the Chevy Silverado HD for the second month in a row. That means this trim level spends the least amount of time sitting on dealership lots compared to other trims. The Silverado HD ZR2 is currently turning in an average of 20 days, and the industry widely considers 60 days to be an optimal balance of supply and demand.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2’s off-road upgrades that make it so desirable include an off-road suspension system with Multimatic DSSV dampers, electronic locking differentials, a Terrain drive mode, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, and an appearance package with favorable ground clearance and approach, breakover, and departure angles.

The Silverado HD ZR2 recently completed its first full calendar year on the market, with deliveries beginning in September of 2023. When the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 came out, it completed the trio of Chevy pickup trucks to wear the ZR2 badge. Harkening back to the off-road variants of the Chevy S10 and S10 Blazer, the name returned on the 2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2 after over a decade of dormancy.

The full-size Chevy Silverado 1500 got a ZR2 trim for the first time in the 2022 model year, and the HD variant is new with its 2024 refresh. Incidentally, the Silverado 1500 ZR2 was its model range’s fastest-turning trim when it first launched, showing that there’s a strong appetite for full-size GM trucks with off-road capability and style. Also, as recently as March of 2024, the ZR2 was the fastest-turning trim of the Chevy Colorado.

What started out as a niche, low-volume trim of Chevy’s compact pickup and midsize SUV is turning into an off-road subbrand in the Chevy truck lineup. The resurgence of the ZR2 name is similar to the rise of GMC’s AT4 off-road subbrand, which has been very popular and attracts a significant number of buyers new to the brand.

  1. The ZR2 is a very appealing package. Not hard to see why it spends the least amount of time sitting on the lot.

Article needs to correct the tire size from 33″ to 35″ however.
