The New Chevy Traverse Is Drawing Lots Of Interest

The Chevy Traverse was totally overhauled for the 2024 model year, debuting the crossover’s latest third generation. With all-new styling, the new Z71 trim level, upgraded interior tech, and a new turbocharged engine, the third-gen Traverse has quite a lot to offer. No surprise then that latest third-gen Chevy Traverse is drawing lots of interest, as indicated by GM Vice president of Global Chevrolet, Scott Bell.

The top-down view of the third-generation Chevy Traverse.

During a recent interview with GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft, Bell stated that the 2025 Chevy Traverse was capturing a ton of attention for the Bow Tie brand.

“I have more people coming up to me asking about the Traverse than I have had in my entire career,” Bell told GM Authority.

Critically, a lot of that interest is in conquest from rival automakers.

“We’re seeing people coming out of Jeeps and Fords, and it feels good,” Bell said.

As GM Authority covered earlier this month, the 2024 Chevy Traverse is currently flying off dealer lots, with the average time-to-sell recorded at just 10 days at Chevy dealers across the nation. This is very fast indeed compared to the industry average, with the average new car across all auto brands in the U.S. market turning in 54 days.

That all said, it should be noted that Traverse sales were down 12.2 percent in Q3 of the 2024 calendar year, as compared to Q3 of the 2023 calendar year.

The latest 2025 Chevy Traverse introduces a few important updates over the initial 2024 model year, including deletion of the LS trim level, as well as the re-introduction of the luxurious High Country. The 2025 Chevy Traverse also features fewer standard safety items than the preceding 2024 model year, with Rear Pedestrian Alert (RPO code UKK), Traffic Sign Recognition (RPO code UVX), and Reverse Automatic Braking (RPO code UVZ) now bundled together as the Driver Confidence Package (RPO code BGP), rather than equipped as standard.

Under the hood, the third-gen Traverse is equipped with the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, while the GM C1-2 platform provides the underpinnings. Production takes place at the GM Lansing Delta plant in Michigan.

  1. I have been seeing a lot of these in Southern California. Its unusual for Chevrolet SUV’s to catch on that quick in SoCal outside of the Tahoe and the Suburban

  2. No way a four cylinder engine is selling that well, this article is fake news. This is a vehicle for car guys that base purchases on engine size, forget the fact this new motor is way more powerful and probably more durable than the high revving car based V6 in the prior gen. This had to be wrong info, no one is buying a four cylinder CUV…

  3. Love the sarcastic comment. The 2.5L and 2.7L Turbo’s look like they are both great engines. The new Traverse and Equinox both look great and have nice interiors. I think they will both continue to sell very well.

I don’t think we will see many of the folks on this board complaining about the 2.5 trading in their Le Sabre’s or Monte Carlos for a new Traverse. But since there are no more 3800 V-6 cars available, I’m not sure what they could possibly buy new?

  4. I can see a mass exodus from unreliable and WAY overpriced Jeeps (and recall-prone Explorers, although that new one is also apparently flying off lots), but otherwise, it makes no sense. And I’ll just bet a lot of folks buying them can’t afford one. See all the other articles all over the Net about that little problem.

  5. I have a ZR2 and GF has a Z71 Traverse. We both LOVE our turbo 4 cylinder engines. Awesome performance, excellent MPG. My ZR2 is rated 16/16… I have never been under 19.5 and as high at 25.

  6. Looked at Traverse. The turbo 4 is way too noisy. We bought a 2025 Honda Pilot, the twin overhead cam V-6 is very quiet and has plenty of power. The build quality is very good.

  8. Have a 2024 z 71 Traverse 5000 miles Great super cruise is great also

  9. I think the increased interest is because the new exterior styling makes the Traverse look more like a truck, i.e. more rugged and masculine. The first generation Traverse looked like a minivan.

  10. I recently got the opportunity to take one out at my Chevy store just to satisfy my curiosity about the 4 cyl. This is a very attractive SUV, extremely roomy interior with nice materials. The dealership is located on a busy highway which made quick acceleration pulling out into traffic a necessity. Yes, plenty of torque and ample forward thrust BUT at 3/4 throttle, it was loud and coarse in tone – almost torture to my ears. owning a 2016 Pilot with a V-6 it was no comparison. My V6 is sewing machine smooth and much quieter.

  11. Try the Buick Enclave before you buy the Traverse.

    1. What is more special about the Buick Enclave? Isn’t it the same engine? Not being sarcastic. Genuinely want to know what is better and more reliable about the Buick Enclave
