Cadillac is once again showing off OpenSpace, an all-electric, fully autonomous RV concept decked out with luxurious appointments and a few interesting technology propositions. The OpenSpace concept was portrayed in a series of images highlighting various interior features, as well as a video showing off the exterior design. Although there’s no indication that the Cadillac OpenSpace will actually make it to production, it’s an interesting idea all the same.
“Designed in our Advanced Design California studio, OpenSpace is an extraordinary mobile experience,” Cadillac writes on social media. The concept incorporates Level 5 Autonomous capabilities, enabling passengers to sit back and relax as the onboard systems handle the driving. Once it reaches its destination, the OpenSpace RV can then expand to create a series of “central living spaces,” while also providing access to a roof top deck.
As seen in a short video animation, the Cadillac OpenSpace concept incorporates a silver metal exterior with curving, metal panels that give it a futuristic, almost delicate-looking design. The broad side panels open up to provide copious natural light inside, with vertical detailing added to the glass both front and back. The front end shows a sitting area surrounded by additional glass siding, while the roof top has a series of soaring panels that give it a tent-like appearance, while also providing a nice view of the surrounding scenery.

Further photos reveal some of the interior details where occupants can “feel connected to their natural surroundings.” High-end upholstery and soft-touch surfaces abound, while wood and other natural elements add to the various interior features. Photos reveal a small wine pantry, a sink, a seating area and table, a bed, and even a ceiling-mounted screen with outlines of various constellations. The whole thing connotes an airy, open feel that surely provides occupants with comfort and relaxation, while never moving away from the sort of luxury that Cadillac is known for.

Of course, the OpenSpace concept is likely to remain just an idea, but even so, it provides an interesting look at the direction that Cadillac might head when it comes to design work in other areas.

So who asked for this and who really wants it? GM wasting money on pie-in-the-sky fantasy, yet again.
Here I am just wanting an affordable, exciting, V8 powered pony car.
Not for me ! I like to drive ! Especially a 5 speed manual !
Concept … pipe dream …
What a colossal waste of designer time and money. Who approves these ridiculous, never-going-to-be-built concepts? gm has plenty of space in the US they are not playing in now, that could use these talents.
Looks like GM let an intern loose with generative AI.
Instead of the concept idea that will NEVER see production, how about giving us a full-sized ICE luxury car like the second gen CT6 that can only be had in China. Thank you Mary for f**king over the customers in the US.
100X better than Elon’s stupid ‘Rubovan’
Hate on innovation much??? Geez
