No. 9 NASCAR Chevy Truck Outruns Wreck To Win Dega: Video

Grant Enfinger, driver of the No. 9 NASCAR Chevy Silverado RST, managed to ditch a multicar (truck?) wreck on his way to the checkered flag at Talladega Superspeedway on October 4^th, 2024.

Enfinger, a native of Alabama, led 34 of 85 laps, winning Stage 2 and staying out front on the last lap when a yellow flag waved to end the race. The win was Enfinger’s first of the season, and the first for his team, CR7 Motorsports. He also secures an automatic pass into the Championship 4, meaning he will be one of the four drivers up for the Truck Series championship in Phoenix.

“We knew stuff was going to get dicey,” Enfinger said. “We didn’t make all the perfect decisions today, but we had a Champion Power Equipment Chevy that was fast enough to get it done today, so even though we chose the outside [lane for a restart] once or twice and maybe we shouldn’t have. … it’s just Talladega right there and hopefully all the fans enjoyed it.”

He added, “There’s nothing like winning at your home track. Got my family here and first win with my daughter and my son here. On top of that, we get to race for a championship in Phoenix.”

Taylor Gray’s No. 17  Toyota TRD Tundra finished second, followed by the No. 43 Silverado of Daniel Dye in third. Rajah Caruth’s No. 71 Silverado and Lawless Alan’s No. 33 Ford F-150 rounded out the top five.

Meanwhile, Nick Sanchez, whose No. 2 NASCAR Chevy showed the way for 10 laps, finished 22^nd after a rollercoaster of a race. He was a part of multiple incidents and was finally called to Pit Road by officials for an equipment check with nine laps remaining.
