No. 16 Xfinity NASCAR Chevy Dominates Las Vegas: Video

AJ Allmendinger, driver of the No. 16 NASCAR Chevy Camaro SS, put on a clinic in the Xfinity Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 19th, 2024, blocking a hard-charging Ryan Sieg in the closing laps to win by 0.156 seconds.

On his way to the win, Allmendinger’s No. 16 Camaro led 102 of 201 laps. By winning at Vegas, he’s secured his position in the Championship 4 and will be one of the four drivers up vying for a championship trophy at Phoenix in a few weeks. Allmendinger, a road course ace, was understandably thrilled to win on an oval track before making the leap to the Cup Series in 2025.

“I absolutely love these guys and girls at Kaulig Racing, it’s been such up-and-down but what I love about them is we stick together, we keep fighting,” AJ Allmendinger said after doing enough burnouts to create a virtual smokescreen on the front stretch.

He also acknowledged his team owner, Matt Kaulig, whose birthday is October 19th, saying, “Happy Birthday, Matt Kaulig. The boss’s birthday! I told you I was getting you a trophy. I love you.”

He added, “What a way to get to Phoenix after the year we’ve had. Let’s go win a championship. LET’S GOOOOOO!”

Sieg’s No. 28 Ford Mustang Dark Horse finished second, followed by Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 7 NASCAR Chevy, who finished third after leading 42 laps. Chandler Smith, driver of the No. 81 Toyota TRD Supra, finished fifth, while Parker Kligerman’s No. 48 Camaro rounded out the top five. Austin Hill, Jesse Love and Sam Mayer are all NASCAR Chevy drivers who are in danger of being eliminated.
