Just How Will The Cadillac Lyriq-V Accomplish Its Lower Ride Height?

General Motors finally unwrapped the 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V earlier this week, debuting a brand-new performance-oriented variant of the sleek all-electric crossover. Naturally, the V-Series-spec Lyriq will feature more power and sharper styling, as is tradition. Not only that, but photos seem to reveal a lower ride height as well, begging the question – just how will the Cadillac Lyriq-V accomplish its lower ride height?

The latest episode of the Cadillac Society podcast dives into this very question, exploring some of the solutions that may be implemented. Hit play on the video above to see it for yourself.

Lowering the vehicle ride height in a crossover like the Lyriq-V can be accomplished in a number of different ways. The two most obvious solutions would be an adjustment to a fixed suspension setting, or the fitment of an advanced, adjustable air suspension system. Both options have unique benefits, but for now, all signs suggest that GM may have opted for the latter.

For starters, the Cadillac Lyriq (and by proxy, the Lyriq-V) rides on the GM BEV3 platform, which is designed to support a range of suspension technologies, including adjustable air suspension, which would allow the Lyriq-V to provide variable ride height.

Additionally, GM’s Magnetic Ride Control technology could be used to enhance handling while maintaining Cadillac’s signature ride quality.

Notably, the all-electric Acura ZDX crossover, which utilizes GM Ultium technology and is produced at the same facility as the Lyriq, offers a height-adjustable air suspension setup in the Type S variant. With height-adjustable air suspension and performance-tuned adaptive dampers (Continuous Damping Control), the ZDX Type S could point the way when it comes to scrying the Lyriq-V’s performance capabilities.

On that topic, GM has yet to release horsepower and toque figures for the new Cadillac Lyriq-V, but for now, the yet-to-launch Chevy Blazer EV is a good place to look for clues, with figures of 595 horsepower and 645 pound-feet looking like a safe bet for the new range-topping Caddy crossover.

Expect a formal reveal for the new Lyriq-V early next year.

  1. I really, really hope that, from a powertrain perspective, the Lyriq-V is more than a Cadillac-ized Blazer EV SS. Add 10, 20, 30 hp…anything they can do to differentiate the hp/tq numbers will make it more special and help to justify the price tag.
